JT was flat-out tough, and the basketball was like a yo-yo in has hands (before all this palming BS that we see today). He had the intangibles and he led those teams. IMO, ISU may not see another player like him in decades - although I'd love for Colvin to prove that opinion wrong.

I would be overjoyed. However, I don't realistically expect freshmen to do much more than play solid minutes, show a good effort on the floor, and limit mistakes. Very few freshmen will be game changers right away, if for no other reason than they simply aren't used to playing against the caliber of competition you see in the Big 12.

I couldn't agree more, but people are drawing comparisons to JT. If Colvin is ever going to be in the same conversation as JT, he will have a major impact on ISU THIS year. JT was that good, IMO. I have to admit, I like this kids' attitude.

Oh my god, there's a thread and it's not about Harrison Barnes.

Yet, the delusions continue. In one thread, we have multiple posters assuming Barnes has ISU atop his list. In the other, we are saying the #97 HS player in the country is more talented than a 7-year NBA vet.

Six of one, half dozen of the other.

WB didn't have much competition for the job. Colvin has to go through multiple players who have at least a year in the system.

Why is it delusional to think Barnes has ISU at the top of his list? I mean, besides what your opinion says?

And I don't see anyone saying Colvin is more talented than Mel, just that he reminds some of him. With a few years of college, whose to say Colvin won't be a better PG?

Since you really didn't add anything to this thread other than to stick your nose up at everyone else, why bother posting?

I expect nothing less from somebody with "ku" in their user name.

For those that have seen Colvin play, how would you rate his talent compared to these two other ISU players? Stats are from their freshman year.

Will Blalock - averaged 7.5 ppg, 4.1 assists and 2.2 turnovers per game. Started 22 of 33 games his freshman year. Team finished 20-13.

Tasheed Carr - averaged 5.8 ppg, 1.3 assists and 1.3 turnovers per game. Started 8 of 31 games his freshman year. Team finished 19-12.

Each of those guys averaged a lot more minutes (30 and 19) than I am expecting from Colvin. Rather than projecting his statistics, I'm looking more for an evaluation of his talent coming into ISU. Right now is he (a) better than Blalock was as a freshman, (b) between Carr and Blalock, (c) below Carr or (d) hard to predict?

Since I was astounded to see myself quoted above...yes, I think that Colvin is more talented than Blalock or Carr. And to answer another post, novbody ever thought that WB was going to be the next JT. The next starting point guard, maybe, but not THAT good. And to answer another post, CC might only be the #97 ranked player, but I have seen him do some breathtaking things. The question then is whether and when he realizes that potential... just my opinion, of course.

I have seen on the national board KU fans acting like Royce Woolridge is a top 10 recruit, what makes KU fans think so highly of him I mean he's the #93 players in his class, and many believe the 2010 class is much weaker than the 2009 one.

He'll be in the top 60 when it's done. He more or less held his own with Harrison a couple months ago at the Jayhawk Invite. Those guys that think he's top 10 are dumb. Nowhere did I say that all KU fans are realistic. I try to be, but I can't even try to represent the whole fanbase.

HB and woolridge dont belong in the same sentence. like it or not, there is a very real posibility that HB could be a cyclone as well as chris colvin being a great point guard. the kid has the athleticism, but also was led a star studded HS team to the state title and watching him play a few times it was easy to tell that he knows exactly how to run a team a lead.

Oh man, what if Colvin is a freak and averages 16 pts and 8 assts in his freshman year...? Will you freak out? Oh, and we win the National Championship by his incredible drive in the lane with 5 seconds left in the game and lobs it to Brackins for the flush.....beating the stupid Michigan State Spartins by 18......then Brackins states that he still has unfinished business...and wants to come back for back to back titles..........HB signs.....oh man. :daydreaming:
