He's a little off but a good article. I don't think Blythe is inconsistant and I think we have had some good quality wins in the Big 12 since 1993....we won in college station for crying out loud!

Yeah, so basically the guy reads CycloneFanatic and compiled our posts. "Can't ... get ... over ... the hump." right at the beginning as many people posted a while back, and the Nebraska being the Key game as I posted a long time ago and another person on here mentioned recently as well. However I like how this guy has confidence in ISU. Anything less than Big 12 North and a Bowl game will be a disappointment. That's my opinion too. I think our Offense will keep us in any game, and our Defense will be much better than expected.

wasnt TAMU 5-7 last year? They must be referring to beating a good team, rather than winning in a hostile environment.

First of all, they were 5-6, lol they didn't get a bowl game with a losing record. Also, they were 5-3 when we played them.

I actually do believe Blythe was a touch inconsistent. If you take the TAMU game out and look at the Mizzou, KSU and Nebraska games he consistently didn’t have an excellent game ( I know we can’t realistically ask for 100 yards a game AND a TD). Also I know he caught a couple of TD’s in the bowl game, but I could have sworn there were a couple of passes or a deep ball that he just flat out dropped.

Let me further note that I hope he uses any perceived inconsistencies from last year as Bobby Boucher would say, “Tackling fuel†and dominates the Big 12 game in and game out next year.

I have to say that I think this article was right on. We really haven't been able to get a big victory (i.e., over a top-caliber team) other than over Iowa. The K State game on the road in 2004 was huge, but the Wildcats weren't all that good. Maybe we can do it this year. I don't know which OL is the key to the year, but I agree that the OL is the key, and unfortunately has been (in a bad way) for about a decade. I also think this is overlooked, but losing Nik Moser is big. The guy made a lot of big plays. I'm hoping James Smith can step up and fill that big hole.

I agree that he's voiced the opinions of a lot of people on here, but you can't ask for a more fair and balanced, praise-filled article about the Cyclones. Especially from somebody that has a national voice.

I liked the article, the guy is right on many points. The expectation should be a North title and a decent bowl game. For this to happen, the running game MUST improve as well as the overall production of the O-line. I like the sounds of the defense, sounds like lots of speed at several positions. Injuries must remain low, especially on defense where we lack depth.

I'm sensing way too much of a positive vibe about this year. Where's discombobulated when you need him?

I agreed with everything except the line about Culbertson being clutch. Not to rag on him, cause 90% of the time he's on from under 40 yards. The problem is that 10% are the ones we need the most. :p

If an 1000 yard season with 9 TDs is inconsistant, then I have no clue what you expect out of the kid.

Do you think DeAndre Jackson is our best defensive player? Of returning guys I think Curvey gives Jackson a run for that honor. I think we need one of our new LB's to emerge at a level that makes him the best defensive player for us to have a solid defense

I think a key to us winning any game is our special teams, lets see we lost Yelk, Shaggy is about as consistant as John Daly's life, and we lost one of the best long snappers in the nation! Also when was the last time we had a decent return game? JJ Moses? or Hicks? Its been a while, lets clean up that area first, the rest of the positions will pan out eventually.

Actually last year's return game was pretty high in the big 12 rankings.

I think what people are saying about Blythe is that from game to game he can be a little inconsistent. There were several games last year where he had 1 -3 receptions. Note that I don't think this is Blythe's fault entirely and that I think we need to go to him more.

Year to year, he's been wonderfully consistent.

i was gonna say, deandre is a damn good return man. wasn't it something like 2 straight kickoffs for over 40 yards against Okie State? There was a penalty on the first one, maybe and on the do-over he took it just as far? cant remember exactly (wasted at time), but he had some good run backs, and i think he'll break one this year.

i too think that blythe was inconsistent, because for the first like 5 games i remember articles in the paper talking about he was trying to catch the ball with his body rather than his hands or something to that affect, also i remember the army game when there was a long pass from meyer and blythe bobbled it and the army guy intercepted it, that was just for example. But blythe can be a game changer too as shown in the AtM game he took control, it would be sweet if he could do that every game.

love the cfn article. however does anyone else feel that culbertson is anything but clutch?
