How were we not recruiting Chase prior to Matt's hire? If we weren't you really have to wonder what was going on.

A little tidbit of the previous staffs ineptness at recruiting or at least player identification. He came to a camp a year or so ago and the staff decided he wasn't worth an offer at that point. Took them quite a while to figure out the mistake and he was starting to blow up before they did.

Appreciate the hard work they did for ISU, but there are a couple stories like that floating around that make me REALLY glad this new staff is here.

It really helps start forming a picture of what was going wrong with the last regime. That is a glaring oversight in the most important part of a staff's job.

Really happy that we have a new staff.

Yea, comments like this just solidify my opinion that OH-IO is the cradle of college football.

That's very valid point. But he didn't have many offers until recently. If the prior staff had offered him that early, we probably would have ******* that he had no offers and wondered why we went after him. The old staff might have got on him late.

Either way, the new staff is the one here and they got him. That's the important part.

I wonder that same thing. Paul and Terry know each other, you figure the connection would have lead to recruiting Chase.

Terry is no dummy. He knew Rhoads was on the hot seat and trending downward.

shades of Gmac and his son ever considering ISU a few years ago

Your "OH-IO" reminds me of a bumper sticker I once saw on a Michigan car: Oh-How-I-Hate O-Hi-O State.

You gotta admit, it's alliterative! :)

They didn't even get the OH-IO correct. Typical northern illiterate babble. But, Detroit, Flint, and cheerleaders who graze on grass fields...what not to like.

Did Campbell use tight ends heavily at Toledo? Sorry if already discussed.

YES!! They did go five wide some, sometimes w/ a TE split out. Usually one TE or HBack and quite often both when they had a HBack who was a blocking beast [my son, yea]. My son played HBack,TE, and ocassionally split out. He had rock hands like his mother, but at 6'2" and 265 his last year he was tough on those dends, db's and safeties. It was fun to see my son cut the dend and the center who is now on active roster w/ Titans pull up through the hole. The line play and sceme along with a stable of quality backs is why Toledo ran and will continue to have big running numbers.

I would be shocked if they don't use multiple TEs in certain sets. I would also be surprised if a TE isn't on the field for 80-90% of the snaps. If not, then they [te's] are not ready.

No problem. He had a great career. People told him to work out for league as Fullback. My dream, not his. He wanted to start his career. Now a computer engineer in Chicago making more than I did my last year before retirement. He did get my smarts. Now hoping for athletic, big, strong, tall grandbabies. Maybe future ISU and Toledo recruit.

Because some posters are still not able to trust our coaching staff, it's only important whether other coaching staffs wanted our recruits. To some extent, I can't say I blame them, but some do take it a bit far.

You're dumb.

I wonder what this means for current TE's? Chandler made some nice big catches late in the season. I felt like he was just coming into his own and hoped he would be really good for us next year.
