Yeah, implementing not so much. But definitely people keep track of what is said.
I don't doubt this at all. I'd not be shocked at all if during something like coaching searches if some of the decision makers swept across a few different places to see if they could get an idea as to what fans are looking for in the next head coach for example

For sure there are staffers reading and posting. Some are fairly easy to spot.

Do they try to connect usernames with real people? Asking for a friend.

I remember him posting after he left ISU. I recall it being very odd defenses of decisions made by the ISU AD (himself). It got very fun when he got called out, but wouldn’t admit it was him.

I would disagree. A lot of the Rhoads-era defenses were passable or even good.

It was the offense that was sniffing glue.

I remember one game where they didn't earn a first down until well into the second quarter and the whole crowd at Jack Trice erupted in the most backhanded and sarcastic manner.

Thing was, those bad offenses would eventually drag down the defense. They would wear down after too many snaps on the field with too little rest between series and offenses would pulverize them with runs to desiccate the clock because they had the lead and were looking to end the game.

So yeah, Wally is pretty far down my list of people to blame for the second half of the Rhoads era.

Those defenses collapsed at least as often before the offense had a chance to fail. Once the early talent moved on, those defenses were indefensible.

Yes, I actually thought under Rhoads the corners and safeties were serviceable. But the D Line was FCS level most of the time..

Campbell and Eli Rasheed have worked serious wonders at making Iowa State a formidable D Line most years they've been here. It's been wild to see.

Depth was the biggest problem with ISU on both sides of the line. Often they could scrape together enough to put together a serviceable starting lineup but when they would have to give somebody a blow there was a giant step down in production. And when the inevitable injuries occurred those guys that weren't really good enough to play a few downs were thrust into the starting lineup.

There should be a distinction between the early and late Rhoads eras.

Early Rhoads -- the one who actually did a pretty good job by the historical standards of Iowa State football in making three out of four bowl games and just missing against Nebraska for 4/4 -- had teams with very good defenses and decent-ish offenses. Nothing flashy, but they scored enough. Obviously, they were no threat to win the Big 12 and were happy to go 6-6 or 7-5 with maybe one signature upset in there, but again, that was really good by our historical standards.

Late Rhoads was just awful on both fronts. Some of the "middle" Rhoads defenses would try to keep the team in games before they ground down, but by the end just everything in the program was malfunctioning.

Then Campbell came along and blew all our expectations completely out of the water.

I feel like a lot of people pushing back on assertions that Rhoads had some good teams that had some good accomplishments by our meager standards only want to worry about how it ended, not how it started, because it started pretty good with those bowl games and some upsets we should still all cherish (TX, NE, OSU, etc.).

care to elaborate?
His wife had a bit of a Steve Alford complex when they were in Cedar Falls where she thought that she didn't have to pay for anything and that her time alone should be worth more than monetary donations to charities that she then didn't show up for.

The son I'll give a pass to, it was probably more immaturity and being 22 years old than anything but he had zero issue running down anything and everything UNI the minute Mac took the ISU job even though he was on the UNI Golf team at the time.
