Honestly, they should blow up all those leagues and start over to get schools with their peers and to get a bunch of schools, like Riceville, off their islands.

But, and hear me out, what if they used pods for scheduling?

/ducks & runs/

Just do 4 3 team pods with two protected rivalries and home and homes based on conference standings from the previous year and a round Robin inside of your pod UNLESS more than two teams in a pod are rated in the Top 10 of either the state rankings or the national coefficients. It just makes so much sense to do it this way.

Yeah, they were one of the leaders for TIC. Found out that beating up on 1A schools does not help you come tournament time.
I fully admit having more competition is great, but to say Osage is hurting come tournament time is a stretch. Volleyball seems to have been just fine (6 straight tournament appearances, 1 championship). Girls Basketball with some deep playoff runs and a runner up a few years ago. Boys Basketball has been solid. Im kinda interested in the perceived struggles?!?! I wouldn't mind having the old North Iowa Conference back myself

Yeah, I forgot about Osage having a WBB run when you dropped a class. Guess I had not heard of the boys making state lately so that was news.

That makes a ton of sense.

If we’re talking straight pipe dreams, it would make far more geographic sense to see Cresco, Decorah, and Waukon to cross state lines and create a Driftless conference with Fillmore Central (Harmony/Preston MN), Caledonia, and LaCrescent in Minnesota, and Prairie Du Chien WI.

Decorah is geographically screwed long term if they can’t cross state lines.

I don't understand how Sumner -Fredricksburg would benefit in that conference. They dont really have even a punchers chance to succeed. These schools are all too small to compete. This isnt college and a B1G pay day. When you won a single game last year and where not competitive in any other why would you want to play bigger schools?
Agree, S-F has some whiners relative to their existing NICL membership but they really need to stay put.

Starting to feel like New Hampton fits better in the NICL East than they do in the Upper Iowa.

I don't think there's a viable path for the NEIC.

Makes sense for NEIC. Makes sense for TIC.

Doesn’t make sense for Osage.
Osage is becoming like the Texas of HS small conferences. They whine and blow up the NIC and now are whining and could blow up the TIC. Let them roll and be NEICs headache.

I'm decently plugged in with NICL East schools and haven't heard anything about that at all

What are the rules on having conference partners in different states? Does it matter? I have no idea.
