Between the LG VU and the Apple phone is the question. Which one would you pick? My daughter wants a new phone and she picked those. Please advise oh gracious ones

She will certainly get more out of the Apple iPhone and will most likely keep it for a long time. Keep in mind though that you would have to get the extra data plan for it and AT&T service is sub-standard in a lot of areas. Since you mentioned the Vu or iPhone, I'm assuming you're fine with going with AT&T - the question then is if you are fine adding the data plan for the iPhone since it's a far better device.
Depends. . .What grade is your daughter in? I don't think she should have a cell phone unless she is in HS.
iPhone is a better device, IMO.
AT&T is awful in a variety of regards, though.
So awful, in fact, that I would take a far worse phone on a better network in order to avoid AT&T.

As a teacher, I'm not afraid to offer this advice be it considered nosy or not: whichever can be shut off from 8 to 3:30. Texting during class time is out of hand. Parents need to set these expectations for their children, it can't just be the teachers' and schools' responsibility. Seriously, if getting caught resulted in parent-inflicted suspension from the cell phone, I predict that texting problems would be cut in half virtually overnight.
How old is your daughter? Will you adopt me? :wink: I want a budget that allows for an iphone. :yes:
The internet searches I recovered (and I'm sure since you took time to post the question here you're likely doing some as well) seem to indicate a downside to traditional texting with the iPhone (and no flash a problem with the camera on the Vu). For me (and from what I could observe of most 12-24 year old girls), hampered texting would be a big hang-up. I do get frustrated when it's done instead of paying attention in class, but texting is a huge part of cell phone communication, especially in the age group I mentioned. I know people who will not pick up the phone if you call, but will text an entire conversation back and forth with you. Has your daughter had actual interaction with trying out either phone (from friends or what not)?
