I don't see how. If he was following up a successful period like the McCartney years then yeah, I get the sentiment. But he is coming into one of the more disastrous P5 programs of the last decade. He should be able to recruit to Boulder and if he can't he's really screwing up.

I think it was a gamble worth making for them. I'm not a Deion fan, never have been, even since his playing days. But while I don't like his style it's not like he's a deplorable human being, at least relative to his peers, so really don't see him running a worse program than anyone else. Remember, we are talking about a sport that has employed the likes of Freeze, Petrino, Kiffin etc, often giving these pukes multiple chances after disgraces.

He'll be 'fine'.
Agree with this. He seems like generally a good person. He clearly works hard and has been unbelievably successful in several different occupations (pro athlete, analyst/commentator personality and now coach).

People (myself included) just can't stand him because of his extreme arrogance and hubris. Whether he can back it up, or not, most people don't and wont like someone who talks like he does. I can somewhat tolerate it from a young athlete in their 20's. Hearing it from a 56 year old man is extremely weird. It feels like he hasn't matured at all from his playing days.

I feel the same way. While we may not like his persona, or even his tactics, I don't see this really 'blowing up' in Colorado's face.

Hiring someone like Deion 30 years ago, when the landscape was different and the program was relevant? Yeah, probably a fairly big risk. But now, in 2023, Deion's antics are pretty 'tame' for the landscape we are in. Teams are knowingly paying players, coaches are constantly being caught in scandals, while several schools have shown little in the way of morality in their choices or hiring practices.

Something could always happen but I honestly think this was the BEST possible hire for Colorado. Immediate relevancy with recruits and someone who (in all honesty) probably has the greatest chance of a quick turn around given their realistic options.

He may eventually leave on his own, fail, and/or get fired. Colorado is literally playing with house money with nothing to lose. It's also great for us/the conference. And this is coming from someone (like yourself) that can't stand the guy.

And probably leave them in a worse situation

The only way this can even happen is if he leaves Colorado saddled with sanctions.

That may or not be likely but it would be HARD to leave them in a worse position they were in before his arrival. When you look at all of the P5 programs and look at what they are (or were at the time of his hiring), what they were (past glory), and look at what they realistically could be I don't think you could find a P5 program that was in worse shape. The on-field performance was abysmal, recruiting was abysmal, the roster was horrid, and the program was riddled with apathy.

Like I said, the only thing that could possibly make it worse is if he leaves, takes all the talent with him, and leaves the program saddled with sanctions. Personally I don't think it's very likely as Deion is too arrogant, too transparent, to care enough or even try to hide anything. My only 'fear' would be him not knowing enough about the rules where he gets caught making infractions. Texts...phone calls...simply because he was too arrogant to learn the rules rather than flouting them and breaking on purpose

Yeah, from what I've seen, Sanders is so strict with his players' dress codes and behaviors, that if he were white he'd probably get accused of being racially insensitive.

He's arrogant as hell, but I think he sets a fairly standard for public behavior off the field.

So CU players must wear black socks in the gym. I'm getting old. I remember when the only persons who wore black socks in the gyms at ISU were international students, and boy did they get laughed at.

I am right in the middle Buffalo country. I am anticipating one of the most entertaining seasons of CFB ever, at least for me. Only part I am not certain about is how ISU will do but I am counting on:
1) BF 25 pt/game watch debacle
2) Sanders making Trump pressers look like painting with Bob Ross
3) Heacock reminding people that he is THE defense wizard
4) Texas and/or Oklahoma shitting the bed

Well, since culture doesn’t matter to Coach Prime, I’m guessing many off field issues will eventually lead to very poor on field performances
... and a fair number of 'me' versus 'we' situations. A lot of **** can happen when that occurs.

Also good culture = accountability. The reverse is probably true.

And I'm not sure Prime is doing away with 'culture', it's just his way, his culture. We will soon find out if he is successful on the field and in the locker room with it.

He may have short term success, but long term is another thing altogether with him, just like his health. It will be a question mark.

So many variables, and his personality, make it a fun team to watch. I'm glad he's in the Big 12 now.

Would love to see them crack Nebraska next week. Hopefully they will still have that chip on their shoulders and not buy into the huge amounts of hype they will be getting this week.

Without looking things up, the TCU defense has given up over 110 points in there last 2 games. Pretty good track meet today. Sandres has 500 plus yards passing and 4 td’s, no pics. 4 receivers over 100 yards.

I’m going to put my prediction here for all the world to see. Lol. Colorado will start 3-0. That means beating TCU and Nebraska. The media will all be abuzz about them. They will be ranked. Then the floor will fall out. They will lose all games left except the Stanford game and finish 4-8.
I predict they will destroy Nebraska. I watched half of the TCU game. They have some great talent. Love him or hate him he understands modern college football. Sadly , many of the good things of the past no longer exist. Just big business and Sanders intends to win, maybe at all costs.
