Looking forward to the great updates on the mens BB, womens BB, swimming, women's cross country, golf, volleyball and football matches as well.

Just kidding Jon. Nice work, and thanks.

LOL...only wrestling.

Some folks asked me tonight if the ISU fans were obnoxious today...and my response is 'This is wrestling.'

This is a sport that, IMO, transcends the rivalries...I think the real wrestling fans are as excited to witness the best of the best on the mat...sure, we all want our favorite school to win...but I think that for wrestling fans, it's bigger than that...or there is a significant piece that is just as big.

We want what is good for the sport, to shine...I mean, nearly 9000 people were there today. that has to rank up their with some of the biggest dual meet crowds in NCAA history that were not held in CHA.

It was awesome...and I feel fortunate in so many ways to be from Iowa, and to be an Iowan...and being able to enjoy a wrestling meet is at the top of my list.

For me, if someone said 'you can go to the Iowa-ISU MBB game each year, or the Iowa-ISU dual, but you have to choose', it wouldnt even be a choice. Wrestling, hands down.

Miller....I don't know man. If Iowa and ISU were both consistantly top 20 teams I think it would be pretty hard to miss that basketball game over a wrestling meet. I think its easy to bail on the Basketball teams since they have been pretty much crap since 01. (yes I know there a few good ones since then, but those still ended in embarassment) Maybe we will all get our wish soon? Who knows.

Anyway...I have to give it to Pollard regarding Hilton. He is not even close to finishing it, and it looks amazing in there. Just my opinion.

Thanks Jon for the info.

The intensity level of the fans is pretty crazy at wrestling. It is different, and I do not think you can compare it to the excitement I get at a basketball game, or a football game. After cheering at a wrestling match, I am exhausted. I am not knocking BBall of FBall (cause I am a freak fan of both), but wrestling is just different, it is AWESOME, and yesterday was off the charts awesome.

Cael, "talk to the ref, don't talk to me."

From watching the match yesterday, at Hilton, I think the coaching staff (assistants) for Iowa sees this more as a match against the 'great Cael Sanderson' more than anything else. the antics from the assistant coaches on the Iowa bench towards Cael wasn't much to be proud of. And it isn't new (last year Gable giving Cael 'the arm', even though Gable admitted he doesn't know what that means).

It was pretty obvious that the i**a assistants didn't know the rules about locked hands, either. They ran over to the scorer's table screaming about how the riding time was wrong, but they had no idea that riding time stops once the official gives the locked hands signal, even if the top wrestler maintains control. That accounted for the 8-10 second discrepancy. Brands had no problem with it, but that big doofus Wes Hand was going nutso. Cody Sanderson came right over and told Hand what the rule was. Classic.
