On your side on this. I feel like people keep saying it but I don't believe it. A trap game is what Iowa just experienced if their next opponent would've been Maryland. You could tell their guys were mailing it in at Rutgers and if Rutgers had a pulse whatsoever they might have put a scare in them.
Chris calls that a focused and ready ISU team will have a 3-game winning streak heading into the Big Monday match-up. Got me curious about our Big XII streaks in recent years. Here they are:
This year - L1, W1, L2, W2(current)
2014-15 - W2, L1, W2, L1, W2, L1, W1, L1, W3, L2, W2 + 3 in tourney; biggest streak 3 wins
2013-14 - W2, L3, W1, L1, W3, L1, W4, L2, W1 + 3 in tourney; biggest streak 4 wins
2012-13 - L1, W3, L1, W1, L1, W2, L2, W3, L2, W2 + 1-1 in tourney; biggest streak 3 wins
In three completed seasons, just once did we exceed a 3-game winning streak during the conference regular season. The Big XII does not lend itself well to win streaks.
Extended losing streaks on the other hand (McDermott's last two years)
2009-10 - L1, W1, L3, W1, L6, W1, L2, W1 + loss in tourney
2008-09 - L1, W1, L6, W1, L3, W1, L2, W1 + loss in tourney
How did he lose a stretch of 9 out 10 two consecutive years?
