If anyone does hear when he is announcing, feel free to start a new thread so I don't have to sit by a computer all day paging through the mega thread. Fingers crossed.

Disagree on the fringe thing. We return 3 starters (Morris, Niang, Thomas) plus a few solid bench players. That plus the transfers sitting out means we won't be fringe. I'd even feel safe saying we'll finally get some preseason respect.

I think NCAA tourney is still a good possibility but I do have one worry: rebounding. Lose a lot of a quality rebounding in Ejim and Kane and while Nader is a nice player, rebounding doesn't seem like his strong point, based on the stat sheet. McKay is supposedly a good rebounder but integrating a player into a lineup mid season could be a bit tricky. Makes me wonder if a guy like Edozie might have a larger role next year, in limited time this year he's shown to pretty strong in that regard.

I do agree, although we will be a fringe team as we were last season. 10-8 seed range. If Vaughn DOES commit (he won't) we could be low as a 7 or high as 2.

I disagree. If Fred can add one more piece to make an impact next year (Vaughn, 5th year transfer, other impact freshman, JUCO) I think that team can be the best of the Hoiberg era thus far.

Kane only averaged 4.4 rebounds per game last year at Marshall. That's still good for a guard, but not even close to the impact he's having now. Nader has long arms and has been practicing with Fred and Doc all season. If there's one thing Fred has shown it's that with the transfers he brings in their former stats can be more or less thrown out the window.

For someone who seems to really be thinking through his decision to this point, Kansas and Kentucky simply don't make any sense. Vaughn has never struck me as the type of recruit who would commit somewhere without ever stepping foot on campus. UNC doesn't make much sense (though more that UK and KU) because he canceled his visit scheduled for the weekend after his announcement. Why would you cancel a free visit to your future college that's supposed to take place shortly after you commit to them? It'll be either ISU or UNLV.

Yes, any mods who are reading this...as soon as we have a confirmed time, please at least modify the thread title on this one or the RN megathread, to include the announcement time.

Does anyone think Fred already knows if he is or isn't? I would think as a recruit I'd want to tell the coaches one on one instead of hearing on Skype or whatever.

After tomorrow we can get back to following who we actually have playing for us in the here and now. Our here and now guys are pretty awesome right now. First order of business is beating TCU Saturday afternoon following the probable website crash as everyone changes their avatars all at once.

My prediction is somewhere other than ISU because of the "handler" issue. Nothing in it for him at ISU.

If RV is taken at his word, no one knows (per a recent tweet). This obviously excludes his parents and Kaffey, but I wouldn't be surprised if he left coaches in the dark. Whoever has been told has kept the secret well, as far as we can tell. This is evidenced by no experts or sources providing any new credible evidence giving insight to what we might here tomorrow.

Everyone needs to stop with the handler deal. RV is likely a one and done. PK can find something to do for one year and the reality is that he won't be on an NBA team will he. Iowa State has brought in players and people to entice certain recruits to come to ISU and don't think they haven't. You think it's a coincidence that Lazard's younger brother is on the fball team?

I hope people don't overreact if he doesn't sign here. He won't make or break ISU's season.

I'll put this here too

PLEASE NOTE: Defamatory or derogatory posts regarding the recruitment, recruit, handler, etc., will be deleted as we see them. If you are associated with too many of these posts, further action may be needed.

Glad to hear.

To those few people who keep saying unhelpful things: Vaughn is going to announce his decision Tuesday. He wasn't pleased with the MN Star Trib article bashing him and Kaffey and happened to cut Minn soon after. Put a sock in it until Wednesday. Then, if you feel the need to throw a hissy fit, go nuts.
