Hope he gets to feeling better. Self isn't a bad guy. He honored my sister in law's late brother and family when he was on his way out. He was a girls bball coach for a small school in Kansas and Self brought him and the family to a game in Lawrence.

Coronary artery disease is a beyotch. #1 killer. Progressive, persistent. Stents buy time. Next stop is generally bypass, if you're lucky enough to make it to the operating table.

Got a family history? Want to try to see if you may be at risk? See if you can talk your doc into a CT scan and a coronary artery calcium score (CAC score). If he won't approve it see if you can pay cash for it - a few hundred dollars.

Self is as real as they come for coaches. He certainly engages in gamesmanship and other things on court as one does, but he's a pretty straight up dude otherwise and doesn't pretend to be something other than himself. There's plenty of fake coaches out there and he's certainly not one of them -- I can respect that. The sport definitely loses a legend and a personality without him around someday.
Agreed. Their fans can still get bent though.

I appreciate greatness. His run of B12 championships is legend. Always fun in the press conferences and highly complimentary to ISU.
Agreed. I didn’t care much for Self until about 5 years ago. Self really enjoys good basketball and environments

He has great respect for TJ and Iowa State fans and he is honest/doesn’t sugar coat during press conferences. He has earned by respect now
