In my opinion we need to beg and plead for admission to the big 10. Football wise, this team simply can't compete well in the big 12. You're going up against teams from the absolute hotbed of football and prospects thereof. In the big 12 there's typically what, 1-2 even conceivably winnable games a year in KU and maybe whatever other team isn't good? Think of all the winnable games we could have in the big ten... Purdue, Indiana, Rutgers, Maryland, Minnesota, usually northwestern, often Iowa and surely we being Iowa state can upset once in awhile too but.... Absolutely a better chance to win 6 games or more and make bowls each year. I know that's never the goal but for a program like Iowa State we will never win a conference(we would have equal the chance over Ohio state and Michigan as we do now, about 0) we just need to hope for bowls and at least some success. Sure maybe the big 12 is slightly better at basketball now but that can be argued too. That would maybe just mean more success for us, not competing with Kansas just being the best every year besides maybe some Michigan and Indiana contention. Not to mention the other key factors: more money, a television network rather than terrible feeding of money to Texas, a more stable conference that doesn't try stupid things like one true champion, and a naturally better feel.... Iowa fits in better culturally and competitively with a Midwest conference- being a Midwest state- than it does with the south/southwest/whatever you wanna call it, and we could have natural rivalries with Nebraska and Minnesota and of course Iowa then in conference with us.

If ISU is ever afforded the chance to join the Bug 10, they will take it immediately. However, ITS NEVER GOING TO HAPPEN!

It's not like Iowa dominated us that much, and they're going to be the big ten west champions.... We could certainly at least put games to if not win, against Purdue Indiana Minnesota(almost lost to CSU) Rutgers and Maryland

The fact that people assume we would win there either right now is comical

Are you kidding me?

You really think we would lose to Rutgers, Maryland, Minnesota, Nebraska, Illinois, Indiana, Purdue, blah blah blah. Iowa is looking like the 3rd or 4th best team in the league and we should have beaten them...

Exactly! We could easily win some conference games either get some non conference easy wins and baam bowl team every year. And sure we probably wouldn't be offered that's why we need to beg! Ha!

Or we could get a coaching staff and players that can compete in the big 12.

We would fit in well with the majority of that pathetic group on the field (that's not a compliment).

The problem is the mouth breathers of the state (as well as you and I) are already paying for Big Ten Network subscriptions. Joke is on us, huh?

Jim Delaney sees no reason how the big 10 would benefit by adding a horrible team to the conference that already has a team from that state.

Further ease the schedules of Ohio St, Mich, Mich St.and Wisc thereby further simplifying their path to the playoffs?

I believe Iowa State could be competitive in the Big Ten. Our wrestling team would definitely benefit from joining the Big Ten, since wrestling is nearly non-existent in the Big XII. However, as others have said, it is extremely unlikely that we will ever be invited. The University of Iowa, as well as Nebraska, Minnesota and others, would probably fight our admission tooth and nail. If, or probably "when", the Big XII finally implodes, I would imagine K-State and Kansas would probably get an invite over Iowa State just because of K-State's football program and KU's basketball program, of course. Not to mention direct access to the Kansas City television market and $$$. I agree that ISU would be a good fit, geographically, and with natural rivalries with Iowa, Minnesota and Nebraska. But, again, they will never allow it. At this point, we bring absolutely nothing to the table in terms of money or expanded TV viewership.

I would rather play in a Power 5 conference than play in the b1g with lil brother any day.

Winning a national title in bball would help a lot in whatever discussions we are having, Big 10 or no.

The big 12 the last few years has consistently gotten the worst recruits and sent the least number of players to the NFL draft. The fact that we continue to say we could win eight games with Iowa's schedule is embarrassing.

It wouldn't happen.
