We'll see. What you suggest is not an efficient market, which ultimately limits revenue to the CFP.But now that the plan is out, there is no way the CFP will follow the same plan as before. The new proposals will be focused on limiting the influence of one large league getting more spots and thus more money.
Generally speaking, it is not wise to give a league with enough pull to garner $80 million/team from TV revenue, the same access to those that can only pull $25million/team, or $6 million if the AAC. Sure have autos in the 12 team CFP, but no conference caps.
If the SEC adds a couple more top brands outside their current footprint, the networks bidding will pay more for a setup that allows for just going with conference winners plus the top-x teams.
The Big 12 should align or alliance with the SEC (and ND) on this. Sell our vote and give the SEC uncapped access after the 6 autos. How much would a post-season make without the Big 12 and SEC plus ND, OuT, Clemson, FSU, USC, Oregon? Way less than the other side, that is for sure. You know where I am going with that. If a fission is coming, there is value to the Big 12 to be the swing conference (like Covid). If that path were to be clearly laid out to the BIG, their recourse is to start buying.
