If you are ever in West Liberty, find El Patio and order a torta con milenesa. This sandwich played a factor in my decision to move to this town.

MMMMM, exact sandwich I mentioned in my post, but from a different spot obviously. I get to Des Moines quite a bit, I'm going to stop there one day on my way home and give that a try.

Manhattan Deli on Ingersoll has two of my favorites. The Italian Grinder for the Thursday special is number one on my list, and the Zach Johnson is number two.

Just a few that I like:

Chicken Philly from Pepperjax
The Original from Schlotsky's
Cuban from West Town Pub
Garbage Deli from Hickory Park
Rueben from either Palmer's or Dublin Bay

My best burger was probably the General Jackson from Peoples...tear.

"ahogado" torta sandwich from Xoco (Rick Bayless's sandwich/soup shop) in Chicago is probably the best sandwich I've ever had.

Seasoned pulled pork, beans and pickled red onion on a fresh roll, cut in half and served in a bowl of very spicy tomato-lime soup. Incredible.

UHHHH YEP! I used to eat at Xoco probably once a week, but cut back. Actually I was there tonight. MMMM. Cochinita Pibil is really good too, but pretty spicy (habenero). It's hilarious because they always warn you "sir, sauce is very very spicy. be careful." It's the same woman every single time though and it's like she doesn't remember me. Some other good sandwiches there is the Choriqueso and Pepito.

A few other good ones in town are the sandwiches at Pastoral Artisan Cheese, Bread & Wine. Some of the best sandwiches in the city by far. The Bocadillo De La Mancha and Panino Di Prosciutto are my favorites.

* The pulled pork sandwich at Smoque BBQ in Irving Park is really good too.
* Goodwin's in the Loop
* Cafecito in the Loop
* Bourgeois Pig in Lincoln Park
* Hannah's Bretzel --> wish the sandwiches were larger..

I'm a sucker for muffalettas with the best from some little deli in New Orleans who's name I forget.
