You guys are doing a great job of mentioning Central Iowa players over the last twenty-five years who are good.

I am biased towards Newman because I went to school with him middle school on up. He was by far the most dominant high school PG that I have ever seen. That includes Hinrich & Oliver.

They had a great team with Danielson and the other kid who could nail the 3. What was his name. Our coach made us run a killer for each point we lost to them by...ALOT of running that day.

Didn't go in-state, but don't forget Hinrich and Collison.

Johnny Orr used to say Hoiberg was the greatest athlete ever to come out of the state of Iowa.

Kyle McCann was a much better basketball player than he was a football player. The combo of him and Gerleman for Creston was VERY tough to stop...

When did he play?

Also a guy that went to Roosevelt and I think graduated in 1987 named Joe Johnson

Newman graduated in 1998. Had the undefeated regular season and then lost in the state championship game to Worley's Iowa City West by 1. Man, 10 years later and that still pains me to think about.

A couple of other great Roosevelt players. Gary Decarlo (I believe '76) could flat out move and shoot. Green (forget his first name) was a lefty point guard that started four years at Indiana State. I think he was in the late '90's.

Lincoln had some good players in the mid-70's also. Chris Kern and Chuck Agan. I believe it was '75 Lincoln won the state title with those guys with an undefeated season.

Yeah it was 77 I think under Coach Karl.

Lincoln had Bob Johnson who went to Iowa State. He was kind of a tweener and pretty much failed at ISU. He was playing center in high school because he was 6"6 but he could not play center in college.

He also had Gerald Johnson (a good high school player) on the team with him.

Couldn't have been '77. I graduated '78 and we were near the bottom of the conference. The undefeated season happened before I got there. The year I'm referring to Hoover also had a dominant team led by Dykstra. His first name escapes me at the moment. The regular season games were held at Vets because the high schools couldn't accomodate the crowds.

Hinrich, Davis, and Korver will probably have the best NBA careers of all the ones mentioned... Well, untill Barnes gets there...

I dont think i saw his name mentioned, but i think Adam Haluska has to be in consideration. Obviously, not the best but a pretty good player none the less
