I know some of the best Iowa High School players to come out of the state but I was wondering who everyones starting 5 of all time would be.

Hinrich
Hoiberg
Settles
LaFrentz
Collison

I'm missing a 3G, maybe Oliver could fit that roll.

Any thoughts?

Are you asking this based on HS performance, college performance, pro or all the above combined?

Not a Hawk fan, but I don't see Bobby Hansen on that list. He was more of a 2 guard, but had a good high school, college and pro career.

If you are basing it on just HS performance, you may have to include Todd Berkenpas on the list.

He wasn't so good as a Hawk, though. Kind of like Troy Skinner.

I always enjoyed the line, "Ricky Davis was a future Hawkeye 3 times as long as he was an ACTUAL Hawkeye."

he committed as a freshmen in HS, then left after one year. Something becoming more and more common.

I agree with this starting 5 except I would sub Korver in for Settles.

I was going to say that myself.

Davis absolutely OWNED the eastern half of the state of Iowa back in high school. If he wasn't such a dolt, perhaps he would have lasted longer than one year at Iowa (rumors were he was going to be ineligible to compete the next year his grades were so bad) and wouldn't have been near the headcase that he currently is in the NBA.

Trust me - he didn't leave after one year at Iowa because he was going to be this prized draft pick (although he did go in the first round) - he went because he wasn't getting "passed along" academically like he was in high school (it was one thing that he got passed along in high school - how he graduated with a 3.0 I'll never understand...)
