So Green Day was one of my first bands as a child that really grabbed my attention with Dookie. I wouldn't say they're my favorite band but they are in my top 30. I have always enjoyed the goofy side of punk with Green Day, Blink 182, Sum 41, The Offspring, NOFX, etc.

I have been listening to the older Green Day albums lately as I've kind of gone back to my child and wondered to myself now that Green Day is a geriatric band, which album is everyone's favorite? The obvious answers are Dookie and American Idiot but personally I think it's Nimrod. Now I have seen people who are Green Day fans just rip on that album but for me its the perfect mixture of what makes them Green Day.

So what say you you CF? No poll cause I'm more interested in the discussion.

It's Dookie and it's not close, I'd say Nimrod, Insomniac and American Idiot all at about the same level tied for second.

I expected Dookie but I think they are such better song writers later in their lives. Insomniac also has a very special place in my heart.

Dookie is the best. American Idiot holds the most nostalgia for me (graduated HS in late 00s)

Another Dookie vote. Their newer stuff they take themselves way too seriously.

Not only is Dookie their best, it's a top 10 pop punk album of all time, I'd listen to a case for top 5 although I'm not sure I could get there.

You should check out Riot Fest this year. Of the bands you mentioned; Sum 41, The Offspring, and NOFX are performing.
I always enjoyed Riot Fest over Lollapalooza while living in Chicago. And as of late, its not even close. Although, this year Blink and The Killers are a couple good headliners.

Same here. American Idiot is a good album. I can’t listen to it without thinking about my MWL days.

Ixnay on the Hombre by The Offspring might be my personal favorite. I really love Chuck by Sum 41 and Enema of the State by Blink 182.
Chuck is great. All Killer No Filler has the best album cover though lol and Fat Lip never gets old to me.

I can’t argue with Enema. As an album, I personally find Take Off Your Pants and Jacket to my favorite.

What would you say are top 5?
Maybe my top 5 actually would include Dookie now that I dig into it a little.

It'd take me too long to rank and I'd probably change it 20 times as I listened to them again, but these are my favorites I'd say.

MCR either Black Parade if we count it as pop punk, otherwise Three Cheers

Blink - Take off your pants and jacket

Taking Back Sunday - Tell all your friends

Dookie

Offspring - Smash

Yellowcard - Ocean Avenue

Starting Line - Say it like you mean it

Jeff Rosenstock - Hellmode

Good call on TBS. They get forgotten when thinking about that era.
