Okay, how many of you guys have a beard for the winter months? I am thinking of growing a beard this winter, the thing that scares me if I were to receive a job interview somewhere, I would probably need to shave it off.

I grew one the previous 2 winters. Thought about growing one out this year (could get away with it at work as well), but it's to warm down here in new orleans to grow one.

I've only not had one for 3 months in the past 7 years. It was too weird looking at a bald face this summer so I grew it back out.

It's possible to have a beard and not look like this guy:

I usually let mine grow out until it starts to get unruly, then trim up the edges and keep the length medium. Still keeps the face warm, and doesn't make you look like a mountain man (unless that's your goal).

Why is that scary? If you get an interview, shave. Oh I get it, you're afraid or razors?

I used to until I got my current job, they're really conservative, no goatees, no beards, can't be unshaven other than mustaches.

Great, so its ok if you go in looking like Rollie Fingers, but having a beard is a no no?

I partially grow mine out, but never get a full on beard for two reasons.

1. It gets itchy.
2. My mustache portion really doesnt fill out well and it looks dumb.

I say if you can do a good beard, do it.

I used to just do a beard during winter months, but I'm now 16 months strong with a beard. My gf/family actually prefer for me (no, I don't have a horribly disfigured face). You do need to trim it if you want to keep for a long time, though. I let my go for about a month and then it starts to get scraggily and I have to trim it down. Also, beware the beard dandriff that can develop in winter months. If mine gets really long, I start to get dry skin underneath and need to trim it down.

I've had a thin beard for a while now... but I've let it get pretty thick since the beginning of November... haven't trimmed since. I shave my neck and mustache, otherwise it looks terrible.

Grew my first beard 2 winters ago. Going for it again this year, but only on week 3.
