Not to threadjack, but if anyone has read Alan Weisman's "The World Without Us", there is a section in there that really makes one think about if we should even be buried in a casket at all.

Although, if I am, a Cyclone one would be cool!

What...no one jumping at the chance to be 6 feet under in the Precious Moments casket? :biglaugh:

That Star Trek casket does look pretty sweet.

I just went to the website and watched my home without me. World Without Us by Alan Weisman: Your House Without You Video

LOL. Nature taking back over would rock.

As for burial. If it were legal I would say to throw me in the dirt with no casket. Who cares Im dead, no reason to spend so much money. Its a burden.

I seriously hope I'm buried in a plain old pine box. I dont want to spend money on something that is going to be buried under 6 feet of dirt for eternity.

-either that or run to Ralph's and pick up a coffee can!

I figure just buy me a standard casket and slap an Iowa State bumper sticker on it. That way I'm buried with my favorite team and I can keep my arm and leg rotting in the casket where it belongs...

I want a urn thats a flag pole, so my ashes can still make the trip around Hilton when I'm dead

(kidding... though that would be cool)

On a whole those caskets are a complete waste of money, the sad thing is I'm sure there is a market for it.

Favorite story I've heard about buying a casket - when looking for one for my grandfather the salesman tried to sell my grandmother a bigger one (it was $1000 more), telling her he'd be more comfortable in it! HE'S FREAK'N DEAD! He's not going to care!

My dad has told my mother if she wants she can splurge on his funeral and by pinewood. To save costs I think we're suppose to just make the box ourselves... something nice a simple. He made sure to tell my brothers and I this too to keep my mom from over doing it, he was like dont' waste money on me when I'm dead, spend it on something else...
