i thought he resigned from arkansas?

or was it like how dmac resigned form isu?

Yes, it's more like the dmac situation. Nutt had caused the fan base to split ever since the Springdale disaster and there was no way he could repair the damage. Fans loved Malzahn and when Nutt shafted him the fan base began to turn on him. From there it all went into a tailspin. He's even gone as far as admit he couldn't reunite the fan base.

As I understand it, it was agreed upon (prior to the LSU game) that Nutt would step down and would be compensated financially as he would have had he been fired. Then the LSU win threw a wrench into the whole thing and he was offered a 2 year extension which he declined (once again making Arkansas look like an idiot), took the cash (who wouldn't?) and suddenly out of nowhere landed the Rebels job 3 hours later.

He was never going to escape the dark cloud he created so he left which in my opinion was good for both sides involved. He's not as 'great' of a guy as some have suggested here.

He "resigned" with a 3.5 million paycheck and the non-compete was wiped out for him to go away quietly (alot of behind the scene stuff here in Arkansas that most aren't aware of outside the state), and a few hours after his resignation, he signed a contract with Ole Miss as coach. Arkansas is now planning on hiring a head coach from somewhere else, and the thought is they are not going to settle for an assistant at this time, similar to the wonderful basketball search that failed miserably for how not to hire a coach (or 2 if you include Dana Altman's one day). Tommy Tubberville (Arkansas native) is the big name being mentioned, although he has a 6 million buyout. Otherwise, Mike Leach and Lane Kiffin are the other head coach names right now.
