If we have to play in the Alamo, I guess I wouldn't mind facing Colorado. You know that Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter would be sitting out this game, so they would be very beatable.

The downside to a Colorado matchup is you're the bad guy, everyone will be rooting against you and their fans can be pretty nasty but the upside is, wherever the Buffs go will be the most marketed and covered bowl game outside of the CFP and honestly, it'll be as big as some of them. There will be many who watch that game that don't care about the CFP. The situation is very similar to Caitlin Clark.

Next year people won't care who Miami played in a bowl but for years everyone will know who Coach Prime played in his first bowl game. It would be a ton of exposure for the program. They are the marquee name in the non playoff post season games.
If hating Colorado is wrong then I don't want to be right.

Bowls are stupid, even more in the playoff era. More and more they are going to become like the old NFL pro bowl. Meaningless.

I've always heard Colorado fans were bad, but I never had a bad experience with them when they were in the Big 12 back in the day. That included a trip to Boulder when Arnaud got hurt

I think they can turn Folsom into a hornets nest but mainly for Nebraska 20-30 years ago.

I was there in 2017 and they were more into the bar area.

I disagree. Plenty, plenty, plenty of people root against Deion. In fact, where on earth are you finding all these pro-Deion people anyway? Besides ESPN talking heads

One of the things I like about bowl season is that we get to see how the conferences stack up against each other. That’s ridiculous that they would have two Big 12 teams play each other.

Six Bowl games since 2002. Colorado fans are delusional.
Kind of like most fan bases in that situation…we fit to a degree as we have very limited bowl experiences, and unlike CU, we've never scratched the surface of playing for a national title or winning conference titles.

Deion is actually an old school hard ass. I bet he has those young men playing.

That being said, I’d like our chances regardless. Heacock’s defense was specifically calibrated to frustrate Air Raid pocket passers.

Years ago I heard a quote that the secret to spectator sports is making fans believe that what happens is important. That's really just as true for the playoff as for bowl games. If I were a player, I'd say "I came here to play football. I put hundreds of hours into the weightroom and practice. Here's a football game; I'll go with my brothers and play it."

That’s what used to happen. Now it’s about NIL, trying to get to the NFL, etc. To be clear,
I don’t blame the kids for sitting out of bowl games that have a shot at the pros, just stating that the game has changed and it close to jumping the shark.

It’s hard to blame kids for opting out of bowl games to prevent injury as they look to the NFL. I don’t like it, but I understand it. It’s a little less understandable for kids to leave their team before a bowl game to protect themselves for the portal.

But what’s unforgivable to me is players opting out of regular season games once they see their team isn’t in playoff contention. The playoff isn’t supposed to be the end-all and be-all of competition. To see a player be so craven and selfish as to bail on their teammates just because they can’t see an opportunity to get on the playoff stage goes against everything that makes team sports what they are. Fie on that.

The game is supposed to be fun.
