Collier to Butler?

If Butler offers the athletic director position to Nebraska coach Barry Collier this weekend, then expect him to accept.

Collier will be the third of three finalists to interview after Mike Watson, associate athletic director at Miami of Ohio, and Ralph Reiff, the director of St. Vincent Sports Medicine in Indianapolis, according to the Lincoln Journal Star. To understand why Collier would leave a $600,000-plus Big 12 job with two years left on his contract for a Horizon League desk gig where he'd be making $400,000 less, you have to look deeper at Collier and his current situation.

Now that Barry is gone to Butler, Christian of Kent State is the front runner in Big Redville. He is very pro for his school, a good recruiter, lost 2 assistants who are now major recruiters at Syracuse and one other major D-1 school, had 8 20 win seasons, hot to trot for a bigger challenge, etc.
Fox of Nevada is another possibility.
And Dana Altman keeps getting mentioned. However, Dana Altman is ranked in Top 25 for upcoming season and that would be a major downgrade for him.
Expect a coach by 11 Aug. Expect another recruiter. The Big 12 is now being driven by recruiting better talent than how they play as a team on the court.

The HEAT is on in the Big 12.
