If true I think it's a good decision to not expand. Long-term the playoff will go to 8 teams and having a conference championship game will no longer make a big difference.

Why would "every person from the Big12" want this bum to know what is going on?

Isn't he one of two honest people on ESPN who were pointing out what a joke TCU going from #3 to #6 was? If I were a Big 12 administrator or executive he would be my go to guy in the media.

Agree with this and expansion not needed if the conference just name a damn champion. And don't allow teams not named OU and Texas win the conference. ;)

Amen.

Don't want to see an expansion. Agree the playoffs will soon be at 8 teams. I also think the Big (II)XII should be working towards getting the NCAA to allow us to have a championship game, even with 10 teams.

Completely irrelevant. Big XII will deny it until their last breath until it actually happens.

Since his sources said we're not expanding I expect 4-6 teams to be added soon.

It would look foolish to expand now. More as a knee jerk reaction. If they are to expand, it'll be calculated. Think about it. The other conferences are set for now. No hurry.

Naming a "champion" had NOTHING to do with the Big 12 being snubbed. NOTHING.

Really the one time in this whole 4 year mess we could have potentially failed to "be in a hurry" was adding WVU, Pitt and Louisville. The ACC said two of them made the cut for them, we know at least two of them would have jumped at B12 and one actually did. If we wanted to add Cincy with those 4 throw them in, but nobody was banging on Cincy's door.

TCU was going to be there, Cincy will be there (very slim chance the ACC goes to 16 and pairs them with UConn), Memphis is DEFINITELY going to be there. UCF/USF will be there since the ACC already had FSU. Tulane will be there since it doesn't make sense for anybody else to take a chance on that big upside/big downside project.

The Pac wasn't going to take both BYU and Utah. Utah is in because of secular status. BYU is thus going to be there too.

From a conference-first and sports purist perspective, you are correct. From a "I don't give a **** about anyone but Iowa State" perspective, I'm kind of bummed that the league thinks they can get their way without adding teams.

I think the big thing here is money. Yes the B12 wants their teams in the playoff, but was the conference hurt financially? If your reasoning for adding 2 teams is to get to the playoff, what is the financial advantage of that? I believe the conference stood to make $2 million more if they make the playoff. It is very likely adding two teams would dilute the payout to the current 10 member schools by $2 million each. That math isn't very hard to figure out. The B12 will have plenty of years it will make the playoff. If this is a trend vs a one year happening then we can argue that adding 2 teams at dilution might be worth it. But to kneejerk that we need 12 as the detriment of $20+ million really doesn't make sense.

To be competitive on the field, Iowa State needs to dilute the conference by adding teams. The extra money we receive has not helped us put a competitive team on the field. We have more money for coaches and facilities, but so does everyone else in our conference. We cannot sustain 2 & 3 win seasons and fill our stadium.

It worked for the B1G. Yes, most of these schools put a crappy product on the field, but they put a lot of crappy teams into bowls as well.
