I second Denny's. Good guys there. When our daughter went to ISU and had car trouble, we were referred by a friend in Ames to Denny's Automotive. We had to use them several times and were very pleased. Here's a link with address, phone, and map. Good luck.

Trickles is great, right on Lincoln Way. BIG ISU supporters too.

Is that place owned by Cole Trickle?

Mike's Body & Frame on Oak Ave does great work.
Of course it depends on what might need to be done, but Mark Hansen at Hansen Sinclair (corner of Duff and LincolnWay) has been great to and for us in lot of different situations. He's very friendly, personable and a diehard Cyclone supporter. They do quite a bit of work right at the station and have another location just a couple blocks east and south. All the employees are friendly and ready to help, too.
Since I live in Nevada, I've had service done at Big 8 Tyre and Automotive on both of my vehicles, good work, good service and the prices are reasonable. Recently had the sway bar kits, front and back, replaced for $160.00. Original estimate was around $200.00. 'Nuff said.
After putting my 2 children thru ISU over a 9 year period, my advice would be, leave
the cars at home, not really needed or used all that much, except to drive home for
a visit.
