This whole press conference was a big slap in the face to Iowa State. If wanted to go to UNC then do a private media only press conference.

Agreed BUT, remember he is a kid doing what he feels is best for him and his education. He didn't pick ISU, oh well. Time for Basketball to start and time for football bowl eligibility on Saturday.
If he is going to North Carolina, his education took a backseat to baskeball.

I kind of would like to see him get lost in the shuffle of blue chippers at UNC and see his attention drop like a rock.

sigh. How bout we win some games, and kids like this won't leave home. This mind set is lost on some people.

I think that "mind set" is BS. If a hometown kid, with "such a great relationship" with the coaching staff, who has "always been an ISU fan", can't sign with the home team, no amount of winning will make that happen.
This was the perfect storm to kick ISU up another notch, and instead UNC got another blue chip recruit. If he is not the next Michael Jordan there, he will be a dissapointment to them. Not so at ISU.
Seriously, if he gets any crap for not living up to expectations at UNC, I think he will deserve it. He will have reaped what he sowed.
The next kick in the stones will be if ISU does make it to the NCAA tourney and ends up playing UNC in an early round. Then they can just twist the knife even more.

Ankeny, ia
I agree with others. We need to start winning some games and the recruiting will come. Hopefully Gmac can get it done. NCAA or bust this year.

So what if Shirley forges his signature on the Iowa State LOI and sends it in? I mean that never happens right? :biglaugh:

Big slap in the face to ISU. I'm disappointed that he's all about the money-I thought he had more class than that.

I don't care that he's about the money. We don't need charity players. I would have probably chosen UNC too, if I was him. But I would have invited the city of Ames, and did that stupid "look at me, i am so coooool" twitter thing for Roy Williams to show up on screen.

Can't blame him for picking UNC….I think….I can blame him for the spectacle of a press conference.

He would have been better off to have dropped ISU off his list than to have strung this out the way he did and add all the pomp and circumstance that only provided reason for ISU fans to have increased hope.
HB (and importantly those adults who were advising him) came off in very poor form.

I won't watch Sound Off Sunday night if he is still scheduled to be on. Again…not because he didn't pick ISU, but rather how he handled this whole spectacle in the end.
