I personally am just amazed at Arnel and how close he is to Steve - Neal found a awesome replacement

Well, Perry is the second best rock singer of all time IMO.

New guy is good. Really good, actually. He's no Steve Perry though.

There's something in his voice that's just missing. It's too smooth or something.

Jeff Scott Soto wore a Bret Meyer jersey at Hilton. Contest over.

I agree. His voice is a pretty good knock off of Steve's however.
Oh he'd win many a karaoke contest, that's for sure.

Every time I hear him sing, though, it just feels like a cover of the real song. You can replace all the rest of Journey, but you'll never be able to truly replace Steve Perry.

I love this video for some reason. I think it could be an outtake from Arrested Development. I so think David Cross belongs in it.

Arnel Pineda just doesn't have the "Psych Out" punch that Steve Perry has.

Saw an interview with Pineda on Oprah (hey, my wife was watching) and he seems like a very humble, down to earth guy with a great back story. But he's just basically imitating (very well I might add) arguably the best rock singer of all time.
I find it interesting that most people have no idea that there was another singer, Steve Augeri, (rhymes with Perry, go figure) that was in the band between Perry and Pineda. He was in quite a few years and did a few studio albums. I really think there are people that just assumed that he was Steve Perry with a perm and now he seems long forgotten.

Seems like this group has a hard time keeping lead singers. Can you say Eddie Van Halen 2?

Van Halen did seem to do some good new stuff with Sammy Hager, but Journey never has seemed to get past Steve Perry. Granted Steve Perry has one of the greatest voices of all time.

1. I never knew there were so many 'Journey' fans.
2. And if #1 was so, I thought they were all in the closet.

That's because there is no Journey without Steve Perry. He's the defining part of the team. It'd be like Aerosmith without Steven Tyler.

Few bands have really replaced their lead singer and stayed sort of the same or gotten better. AC/DC comes to mind.

Van Halen's there too for me. Van Hager was great and I think better then the origional.
