I'm an ISU grad and proud of it. Many in my family went to Iowa State and/or are ISU fans as well. I'm ashamed to admit that for a few years in elementary school, I was an Iowa "fan" because one of the kids in my class made fun of me for liking ISU. Thankfully, I came to my senses as I got older. And the kid who made fun of me? He ended up going to ISU, too.

Grew up real close to Hawkville and was a fan of both teams most of my young-HS life. My dad and uncle both went to ISU and influenced me that way while the rest of the family was UI fans. Left for the Military for a while and came back to Iowa to play baseball at Upper Iowa since ISU had to put a hold on the program, have never thought twice about the full conversion to an Iowa State fan since I left Iowa and found out how they act when out of state. (I do still root for the Hawks against anyone but us, but it does keep getting harder as time goes on.)

P.S. I will eventually turn my wife on to the good side since she still cheers for the others to the East.

Mom was one of 11 kids (she grew up on a farm), and of those 11, 5 went to Iowa State, 2 went to UNI, 1 went into the service, 1 stayed to work on the farm, and one went to Iowa, while my mom went to nursing school in Dubuque. It's not even a fair fight for that one Hawk fan...:biglaugh:
That's why I'm an Iowa State fan--despite growing up among some of the worst Hawk fans in the world in Dubuque and Delaware Counties.

I am a future ISU student(two years away!). I had always been a fan of all Iowa schools, but I (for some reason) fell in love with ISU football a few years back(2004) and have stuck with it since. I am also planning on being an engineer/architect so ISU was the obvious choice.

I was brain washed as a young kid and was a Hawk fan. I eventually became a Cyclone fan after going on a campus visit when I was a senoir in high school and fell in love with the campus. I eventually graduated there in 91. There were some bad football teams back then and I constantly heard about it from the dark side. My dad is still a Hawk fan and I returned the favor when my 2 yr daughter at the time told Grampa as he was trying to get her to say "go Hawkeyes" that he was saying a "naughty word".

Mom will have 35 years in at ISU and will be retiring at the end of the year. Grew up going to all of the games since 5 years old.

Was recruited by ISU in the mid-80's (god did I just say mid-80's?!!)), but went to UNI for more money and a chance to get away from mom:smile:

I grew up in the Northwest Iowa Cyclone "pocket" and rooted for Johnny Majors, Earl Bruce and Dexter Green. '87 ISU grad, looking forward to putting my teenaged daughters through ISU, and returning in a couple years to get my PhD from ISU. (Got my MA from Boston U., sorry!)

I'm glad to see the casual fans who DIDN'T graduate from ISU on this board. We need more of THOSE to elevate our sports to the next level.

Grew up 40 miles west of Ames in Jefferson. In the mid 70s I got invited to attend my first ISU football game with some buddies from work and was hooked from there on. I bought season tickets to both FB and BB, donated to the NCC regularly before finally moving to Arkansas almost 15 years ago. I still try to come back for at least one game every year.

Razorback fans told me I'd become a Hog fan and eventually forget about the Cyclones. Never happened. Actually it's been almost the opposite. Many here in the office will stop by after a FB weekend and say "How bout those Cyclones!".

Cardinal and Gold run through these veins and I've never been more excited for ISU football now that Chizik is a Cyclone (as well as the rest of our coaches)!

I grew up an hour away from IC and as was a Cryowa fan in my younger days, though I casually rooted for the 'clones. I came to ISU for school still partially Hawk, but turned when I heard obnoxious Hawk fans talking sh!t about my school and new home...the year was 2005, that was a good day, and I'm now a Cyclone for life and loving my time here in Ames

Grew up on a farm just west of Ames (and a Cyclone fan), but decided to go to UNI to get away from home. Still a die hard Cyclone fan, and even cheer against my alma mater when they play ISU!
