I know that the season started off with a lot of Hype after the finish in the NCAA game last year against Standford. But everyone had to remember that we still had only 1 senior on a limited minutes plan all year long to go along with 5 sophmores and 2 tranfers and 2 true freshman. Teams had game film on both addy and audi and both played at an unbelievable level all year long. All the girls hustled all year long and yes i understand that we need to figure out a defensive game plan with Audi not being able to guard anywhere but the paint.

Losing Kinze Hare what probably the biggest dagger . She was brought in to be that third scorer behind audi and addy. I am still excited about the future of this program. Tanke had some good minutes today she has a very good looking shot just need the experience at the big 12 level.

Last thing I do not why every one wants to Bash on Bill . He has been the head coach for 30 years 800 wins and has brought this program to national respectability. How many 20 win seasons has he had! How many times has he taken the girls to postseason mulitple big 12 tournament titles. I DO NOT THING HE NEEDS TO GO ANYWHERE!

How about this:

THANK YOU Emily Ryan for being a great player, a great role model, and being open about your mental health struggles. Truly an inspirational player and one of the greatest cyclones to ever wear the jersey.

The gals had a good not great season, we struggled all season making the 3 point shot, good thing 4 out of 5 starts return. Teams needs to find a couple more athletes that can shoot the ball.

Not entirely -- from a percentage standpoint, Harris had one of the best 3pt shooting seasons in ISU history. But Hansford struggled and Hare got hurt.
Yes, Harris was great. Hansford hurt us and Hare wasn't shooting that well before she got hurt.

Consistency is a big thing. Harris could be hot and cold and average…but she seemed to get more comfortable as the season went on. Hare wasn’t burning up the nets, but I think she will settle in nicely as a shooting threat. Joens will get better. Hansford may be like Natabou and end up somewhere else.

I agree they had a good season. Other than UNI we didn’t lose to any lesser team, we just had more trouble this year with higher rated teams for some reason.

I would not call Hare the dagger that set the season off kilter. If we had her I don’t know if we would have any more wins.

Keep the core, Harris, Hare, and the freshmen and we still have a lot to look forward to next season.

Hare was hurt all year, and it almost certainly affected her shooting. It's fair to assume she would have shot better had she not been injured. She was actually hurt the summer prior to LAST season, but the pain didn't become a big problem until more recently.

EDIT: I think the above posts are also understating what she might be like when healthy. She was playing on a torn hip labrum. From a recent register article:

“It’s definitely a painful injury,” Hare said. “It was really hard to play on.”

Eventually, the pain became too unbearable. After talking with Iowa State coach Bill Fennelly, Hare decided to shut things down this season and undergo surgery. It was then that Fennelly found out just how bad the injury was.

“When you hear the doctors talk about the severity of the injury and they were like, ‘I’ve had football players that wouldn’t have played through that,’” Fennelly said.

We whiffed on finding 3 point shooters in the portal. There wasn't a lack of effort, they always played hard.
Other than Hansford, the Cyclones shot 37% from three which is good. Brown and AJ didn't shoot as well as last year, but I still think they are good shooters. I think turnovers, defense and the lack of a backup point guard were the biggest issues with this year's team.

The little blessing in disguise with Hare going down was the eventual emergence of Joens.

I love the team. We need someone that is able to create their own shot and a ballhandler. I hope for great things to come. Note- the couple of team members I have met seem like good people, which I find the most important trait in building any team.
