Hare was hurt all year, and it almost certainly affected her shooting. It's fair to assume she would have shot better had she not been injured. She was actually hurt the summer prior to LAST season, but the pain didn't become a big problem until more recently.

EDIT: I think the above posts are also understating what she might be like when healthy. She was playing on a torn hip labrum. From a recent register article:

Do we know when Hare's hip started bothering her? I thought she had a nice shot at the beginning of the season, but then noticed an odd left-to-right hitch a few games before she stopped playing.

She started having problems her sophomore year. It finally reached a point she couldn’t go any more. Here's a recent register article about it. Apparently doctors said football players normally wouldn’t be able to play through what she did. Pretty severe.
Check out this article from Des Moines Register:

Iowa State women's basketball: Kenzie Hare working her way back from season-ending surgery

Not exactly sure.
I'm quoting myself, but I was trying to find an Arianna Jackson NIL shirt. They have some decent ones out there but we need to step up our game a bit. Let's get after it @brentblum
Brent is doing a great job. We have 5MM and most goes, and should, to football. Next priority is MBB, as it’s the only other profit center, then WBB with what they can.

WBB can do what wrestling does, create their own and go outside WeWill. If the WBB fans are deeply dedicated, they can come up with a million or two like the wrestling team does.

Dude I was being facetious. Brent is doing an outstanding job.

Ok, that’s good.

One thing I find puzzling reading WBB threads is the disconnection in relation to MBB. Not directed at you but a general theme. Why is it when the MBB team or the football team has high expectations and finished the year falling first round of NCAA or playing in a mid tier bowl; fans get mad and want changes from top to bottom. Now when WBB starts the year highly ranked and has a year like this, it’s just talk like we need this one player or we had injuries, things will be okay, they fought hard. We are in the middling stage where being better than average is good enough.

If dedicated WBB fans want to push this to another level, time to pony up and start throwing money at it and demanding more. Or become like iowas MBB team under Fran and be happy that we aren’t bad.

It's difficult to support both the men's and women's program if both are decent and winning games. Look at EIU, until the rise of CC, their men's team had very good attendance, top 20 every year. EIU's women's team under CC makes their first final four run and attendance and attention goes out of the world. Money from both fans and NIL gets shifted from the men's program which had grown stale to the women's that is winning at a very high right. Everyone will support a winner, and the more you win, the more people want and expect it.
It will be difficult for the ISU women to get the money and attendance unless they start getting to elite 8's or final 4's, when the men's program was ranked in the top 10 most of the season, and only started to fall off when the injuries hit.

Two things I don't understand. How is kelci only playing 18 mins? She is the hustle of this team. She gets every loose ball, rebounds amazingly for her size and hits big 3s when we need them. Secondly, i love bill but his use of timeouts drives me crazy. I understand ideally you want your timeouts at the end of games but when a team is on a 27-7 run against you in a quarter it might be time to regroup and settle things down.

Many on this site appear to live in the past and are content with "slightly above average", preaching "positive thinking" and reminding others how long they've had season tickets, labeling anyone with a differing opinion as a "hater".

The program has an "air of malaise" about it - everybody can see what's wrong but nobody knows how to fix it. I'm of the opinion the answer is "new innovative leadership", but that's unpopular with the vocal majority who are obviously content with 20 wins and an early NCAA exit.

In closing, I don't believe throwing money at a WBB specific collective is the answer so long as CBF remains at the helm. As MRED illustrated last week, there's not another coach in the county, current or past, who's been with the same Power 5 WBB Program for 30 years without winning a single outright regular season title and / or advancing to a Final Four. He's not going to change anything because he doesn't need to - ISU WBB fans go way past "loyal" with near cultish devotion.

My thanks to the young women for the entertainment you provide during the long, cold Iowa winter. Your hard work and wonderful representation of ISU is greatly appreciated!

Totally agree with the time out discussion. As for Joens she always plays all out but yesterday she was a little undersized to rebound on the low block. Tanke just a little bigger, they were just hoping her shooting would catch fire.

I mean this as no shots at anybody. But WBB has the same feel as US soccer. There are some real die hards out there but most fans are just content to watch a pretty good team and maybe push past the group stage in the WC every few tries. And that’s ok.

Because there are way more FB/MBB fans than there are WBB fans. And also a lot more at stake financially. FB is a billion-dollar business. MBB is a billion-dollar business. Both require 5-figure donations in order to access good seats, parking, and other amenities. WBB, as it stands, has none of that.

For all of the push and bluster around women's sports the last 5 years, WBB is, generally, still basically a "niche" sport. And that's coming from someone who has followed the sport for almost 30 years. How many times have you seen/heard a major push to fire a WBB coach outside of (1) prolonged losing seasons or (2) some type of scandal?

While we'd all like more wins (including and more importantly the coaches and players!), there is something to be said about Coach Fennelly having averaged (averaged!) over twenty wins per season over his thirty years at Iowa State. (And as a rreminder, Iowa State only had one season with 20 wins before him). No scandals (if you forget the the law suit by she who shall not be mentioned). And most importantly, every single player who has finished her eligibility under Fennelly has gotten her degree! Remember they do not all go on to play professionally.

So thanks to Coach Fennelly, all your staff that put in untold hours, and especially all the players. You put your heart and soul into playing for the Cyclones. Very much appreciated!

Extra special, not so double secret, appreciation for Emily Ryan. You are the ultimate Cyclone!

Thank you for putting into words all that I have been trying to find.

Someone mentioned on another post that we need a new coach/Fenn needs to retire. Fennelly built this program. He and his wife helped put butts in the seats and created the community within the program and athletics alike. Am I disappointed, of course, but for me he is the reason I fell in love with WBB as a middle school student. Back then, I had to listen to games on the radio in my upstairs bathroom because that was the only room that remotely got an AM station. Looked up articles on the school computer because I didn't have the option at home. Yes, I have a sense of loyalty, something I wish more people would have. That doesn't mean I am blind to things that are bad (Jess Schroll) but do stand-up when you see liars (Voldemort) try to tear someone down.

Back to the topic. Emily Ryan: You will go down as my all-time favorite Cyclone, for all that you did on the court but more importantly what you did off. The perseverance you showed and determination you had to work through speaks volumes about your character. I will always be cheering for you and hope someday; you achieve your biggest goal as coach. You will be amazing.

To the rest of the team: I cannot wait to be back in my seats for year 21 and will again travel around to watch you play and lose my voice cheering you on.

Consistency is a big thing. Harris could be hot and cold and average…but she seemed to get more comfortable as the season went on. Hare wasn’t burning up the nets, but I think she will settle in nicely as a shooting threat. Joens will get better. Hansford may be like Natabou and end up somewhere else.
Good lord if a 46% three point shooter isn't consistent enough for you I don't know what to say.

Percentage doesn’t show consistency. If I shot 5/5 in one game and 0/5 in the next I’d still be a 50% shooter and inconsistent. There were games she would shoot 3/4 (southern) and 0/3 (South Carolina) in others. She was 6/8 against UConn and 1/5 against UCF. If she can again a titch more consistency and stay in the 40-45% range it will make a huge difference. She has shown she can def shoot…

Just saw this post in the men’s thread…so stupidity isn’t just a women's basketball thing when our team is getting beat.

"The story of this year will be the injuries and a complete lack of any offensive strategy, game plan or sets
