Anyone else hearing that JP has already decided Prohm is coming back?

If Phrom comes back no need to watch again next year.
This ^

Steve's teams play a soft rebounding style, no tenacity on D, and absolutely no fluidity on Offense.

Take out Niang / Morris / THT / and the other super talented players we've had, and this crap product is what is served.

My heuristic --

"HIGH-MAJOR" or "P6"

ACC
Big 12
Big East
Big Ten
Pac-12
SEC

"MID-MAJOR"

A-10
American
Missouri Valley
Mountain West
WCC

"LOW-MAJOR" is everything else.

I would call South Dakota State (in the Horizon) a low-major, though one of the better low-major conferences, and UNLV a mid-major, though in one of the stronger MM conferences.

MVC with no WSU and/or Creighton is low low major.

Last year...

Last of the five I proposed, but still ahead of the MAC and CUSA.

They're certainly down from their glory days when UNI was good, Creighton was around, and when Wichita State was nationally renowned, but I think they're still holding on MM status, if only out of tradition.

Would you expect that lineup to make the NCAA tourney with this coaching staff?
Idk, and neither does anyone else. Every year is a new year. I would think they have a shot assuming they get a transfer to fill the bench out. Conditt and Jackson would be solid contributors and hopefully this years freshmen take a step.

You can't ignore players like Nader, Haliburton, Burton, Shayak, Thomas and Bolton all improved drastically under Prohm.

You're correct. I don't know for sure. Just like this season, we could win out, win the Big 12 tourney, and be in the NCAA's. We just don't know.

Not really sure what point you're trying to make, it's pretty obvious you don't like Prohm.

The point should be obvious, you can make some assumptions on how a season will go. You might be right, you might be wrong, but it's not like we have zero information.

Why does everyone keep saying “mid-major” like it doesn’t apply to TJ? 2 years ago he was a mid-major, and since he made the jump he has a losing record.

Just because he technically is not coaching at a mid-major school does not indicate any clear cut gap in ability, record, etc.

UNLV is a still a mid-major. T.J. Is 27-26 at UNLV and 19-13 in the Mountain West. The Ohio Valley and the Summit are low-majors. Doesn’t mean you can find coaches that can make that jump. But that jump is more difficult.

Jackson and Javan Johnson are not Big 12 caliber players. They just aren’t. With Tre it is a height issue. With Javan it is more mental.

The only way this team gets back to the tournament is a high end 6-6 or 6-5 wing transfer.
You pair that with Bolton, Hunter, Foster and Hinson then “maybe” you can scratch the bubble. A lot of maybes in there.

But if you are starting Tre, Bolton, Hunter, Hinson and Foster then you will get out rebounded by 15 every night.

I don't know about that but they are definitely a 1 bid league now which IMO puts them as a low major.

I respectfully disagree on both the one-bid league and low low major comments. I think it's at least 50-50 that the MVC gets 2 bids this year. Loyola was in the Final Four 2 years ago. (Not sure any conferences designated "low low" have a recent representative.) UNI with a healthy Green and decent sub Kimmins would be right with the top 2. At least those 3 would all have a legitimate chance to finish 2nd to Gonzaga in the WCC.

Dubar or Walker for Jackson would help the rebounding margin.

It’s not all about the play on the court that leads me to call them a low low major.
