She's gross as are most of the teachers who do this.

My question is: why are schools continually hiring young teachers in their early/mid 20's to teach kids close to their own age? Isn't that just asking for this to happen?

My maturity level at 25 was pretty much what it was at 18, which is to say, immature. I went through public schools in the 70's/80's and I can't remember one female teacher who was in her 20's. Seems there's an obvious solution here.

I didn't actually read the whole article so I didn't see the age of the kids. I was speaking more of a situation where the guy might be 17/18.

You're right, I'm sure the teacher shortage/crap salary has a lot to do with schools hiring bad teachers with little experience who are young.

But, there's an easy fix to that problem: pay teachers a lot more, and fund the public school system adequately like we used to.

So your plan is to not hire teachers until they turn 30? I don't think someone is going to find a part-time job for 8 years out of college and then go work as a teacher.

From what I have heard, this gal is just the tip of the iceberg regarding Coach White. On the KCRG facebook site that reported his arrest, there were over 300 comments, many from former students that went to CCA and from what they said, it had been going on for over 30 years, with many different girls.

Horrible to think that winning state championships in softball is more important than protecting these young girls, but its starting to look like the case.

I know of three women and two male teachers that were doing this while I was in high school.

Agree. Before they press charges and ruin the teacher's career (and life), they better make sure they have very strong evidence. Maybe they do, but you certainly can't tell by reading the article.

From what I read in the article as long as they each stick to their story there doesn't appear to be much there to go off of. I'm not sure "flirtation and innuendo" could rise to the level of a crime.

Yeah I'm assuming if this rises to the level of a crime there's a whole lot more evidence than what was presented in the Register article.
