This one is kind of run of the mill until the whole thing about snapchatting pictures of having sex with her husband...

It still does no good to society to put the mother of 4 children into jail for a "crime" with no victims.

The fact of the matter is she is a child predator period. No it doesn't do much good for those four kids for her to be in jail but she should have considered that when she chose her actions as much as the mother of four that steals or does drugs. Period.

Yeahh... wonder if the husband knew, cause that is messed up. The part about a teacher seeing her playing basketball one v one against a student at a wellness center in town and the teacher feeling it was inappropriate. It would be weird as **** if I went to the Y in high school and saw my 37 year old science teacher playing bball against my buddy.

A 14 year old is not a helpless child. I know some parents want to act like they are completely helpless until the age of 18 and then they are completely lost adults. There was no victim here and therefore there is no crime.

I also don't think people should be thrown in jail for simply using some specific chemicals. But that's another thread.

I always thought the things that people post about you and consent were some kind of inside joke.

Nope, you really don't believe in the concept. Just wow.

Well there are two types of consent.

One is the obvious giving consent or more specifically revoking it with the word No. That should certainly be followed as otherwise that is initiation of force.

Second is the arbitrary age that some lawmakers feel they need to invoke a moral authority over others and declare X days old will get someone in serious trouble while an X+1 days old will be perfectly fine. So no I don't believe in this type of arbitrary consent law.

A 14 year old is definitely helpless in a mental frame of mind kind of way. Lots of challenges and changes at that point in their lives and they need adults to be adults, not predators with them. Lots of 14 year olds seem like they are ready for adulthood, yet in reality are bouncing back and forth with their mental and physical changes. To say that there is NO victim, is absolutely absurd.........maddening and very frightening. Many 14 year olds are 8th graders, good grief.

The biggest thing for me is that she is in a position of power in these kids lives. She has authority over them. She used that to her advantage. Whether the kid "consented" or not, what she did is an abuse of power and statutory rape. Not to mention, she possibly filmed her and her husband having sex unbeknownst to him. Real doll this one is.

I don't know how many eight graders you typically have contact with, but they are far from being in a good position to consent to sex with someone who is twice their age.

Perhaps, perhaps not. No I am not around middle school students very often. I think that different people mature at different ages and an arbitrary number is not a great way to treat everyone. I think that most 17 year olds should be able to sign contracts, like those to open a bank account. However, a 2-year old is obviously unable to even write. There will be a wide range of abilities and ages at which they are able to understand and agree to the contract. This would have to be done with an interview on an individual basis.

I will probably get jumped on for this, but I think its probably diffrent for boys and girls. A 14 year old girl should not be having sex with an adult, but I remember being a 14 year old boy and sex was on my brain 90 percent of the time. I agree with you nobody makes the best decisions at 14 but I have a hard time seeing mental problems developing from sleeping with a hot teacher.

OMG. I would ask at what age you do think this should be a crime but I'm afraid to know the answer.

Again I don't believe in arbitrary ages. There are many "adults" who are simply unable to give consent, primarily due to mental illness.
