Need some help emailing Buffalo Wild Wings Corporate. Here's why.
On Saturday morning (game day) four of us went into the new Ames BWW for a drink. We were greeted by three workers with Iowa shirts on and large glitter Hawk heads pinned on. There were others as well. Our waitress was dressed in I State geer, and she was disguisted as well. I talked to the manager in a very polite way by explaining that any business is about customer experience. And it made little sense in Ames on a game day to have Hawk shirts on employees, as it wouldn't make much sense in Iowa City to have I State shirts on. He had a "I don't give a rip" attitude, and said his employees can wear what ever they want. We finished our drink and left, never to return.
I ask for emails to be sent to corporate BWW. This needs to be changed. A few emails can make a difference.

Buffalo Wild Wings - Contact Us

I didn't really plan on going there too much. Now I probably won't go. I'm not a fan of the place. It makes sense that the manager would have that attitude. I've found customer service a low priority at the majority of BWW's I've been too. I will spread the word to all my friends in the area though. Although it isn't a Huge deal, when you have a good variety of places to go, I'm sure for most of them BWW will slide down the list. Thanks for the info.

Edit: This reminds me of when i was going to school and working at the godfathers in IC we had a girl also going to school at Iowa but she was a ISU fan and would wear Cyclone stuff on gamedays. Nobody threw a fit. Nobody sent nasty emails to my boss. Yes we would give her a few jabs but all in fun. Guess some people are more adult then others....

Wallaby's in Ames...

Better food, plenty of Cyclone stuff on the walls, and the boneless wings are known as Hawkeye Wings.
Love it!

This.

I like Wallaby's better, though you will see other teams' fans there, including Hawks. I can get BWW in Omaha. Why go to Ames to go to a chain place you can get anywhere? Is Cy's Roost still open? Plenty of places to get a drink in Ames where I guarantee you won't see many Hawkeye fans. Of course, on game week this week, that may not be the case ...they'll be everywhere....

This is the correct answer.

I don't care if they have some Iowa stuff on the walls - the BWW in Coralville has Iowa State stuff up. But any server wearing Iowa gear on an ISU gameday in Ames is just asking for zero tips.

Yes - because showing college kids trying to make a living how big of a fan you are is awesome.

Every year this thread shows up and every year I tell people there is a world outside of Cyclone football and Iowa vs. Iowa State. Quit living in your fandom.

Best Answer +1. You don't have to even say anything to the manager. The $0.00 tip would say everything! Unfortunately, the girl in the Iowa shirt may or may not get the hint. She might run into the bathroom and hurl because she thought the lack of tip was because she was too fat.

Most of the time when Hawk fans do this they are just looking for attention, especially if they are girls. You should have asked them to name a player on the team or why they are Hawk fans in the first place and I can almost guarantee they would have said Ricky Stanzi and, "I have no idea."

Im sure the female Cyclone fans know the ins and outs of the football program:confused:. My God

I think it is a PERFECT lesson in customer service. Serving food isn't about the waitress. It is about the customer and their experience. You're serving food in a community where over half of all all the paychecks come from or go to ISU. Stop thinking about yourself and think about where you are, who you're serving and how you can best serve them. Plain and simple.

And what you are wearing affects how you serve them?

This.

Are people going there to look at what the employees are wearing or are they going there to eat?

People do like Iowa. People also like UNI and Kansas and every other team, that's what makes people different. Maybe people should talk to the mayor about making sure no Iowa fans live, eat or work in Ames.

C'mon.

It's a customer service job. They have the right to deck out in Iowa gear in Ames on gameday, and the patrons have the right to let them know that they don't approve.

Okay?

I hate the hawks, but why are you going to BWW? For the food and the beer, correct?

Why are you focusing on the server. If a shirt makes your experience a bad one, then you got more issues than you think. If the service is bad, that's an issue that would be worth talking about.

BWW is a sports bar-type environment. If the workers are Hawk fans on a gameday, what's wrong with them wearing their Hawk gear? Just because they work in Ames doesn't mean they should have to conform. And it's kind of petty to boycott the place over something like this.

Would you boycott BWW if you were a die-hard Cardinals fan and the waiter had on a Cubs or Reds shirt? I mean if you're rebecacy, you might. But he's one of a kind :jimlad:

Exactly. I doubt the manager graduated from any college, because the first rule of any service business is not to alienate the customers. If he is an Iowa Grad, then put a Hawk poster in your office and go pray to the Hawk gods over your lunch hour or break. If your employees are Hawk fans make them dress in white or some other non-offensive color.

Right. Unless the shirt has my picture on it and says, "I plan to kill this man," their shirt really doesn't matter to me.

Of course, I would complain to the manager about that shirt, and hope that they weren't wearing the same one.
