So....I have sleeping troubles and had my doctor prescribe Ambien to me. Has anyone else taken it and what side effects have you had?

I basically get amnesia 15 minutes after I take them and, while I get to sleep, I end up still feeling groggy the next day. Any thoughts?

The amnesia is a little scary. That might warrant a call to your doctor.

I've had trouble sleeping before and did some reading up on different sleep aids. One thing that I remember seeing is that some of the pills will knock you out, but then the pills are not fully digested until your body ramps back up the next morning, leaving you with that groggy feeling. Not sure if that's true of Ambien or not. I settled on Tylenol PM since mine was usually due to sinus headaches.

I think some people have reported sleepwalking, and "nighttime goofyness." (medical term)

I use it to fly oversees. But I take half a tablet and not the time release version. It helps me sleep with no grogginess, but I do have strange dreams and half-awake-sleepwalking on a full tablet:confused:. It was strange.

Wasn't there a great story posted on here about sleeping pills from an advice column?

I suppose it depends on what you are forgetting, could work to your benefit =)

Seriously though, if that kind of stuff is happening, talk to your doctor. You could end up hurting yourself or others if you dont get it corrected.

Isn't Ambien the one which causes some people to experience extreme cases of sleepwalking/sleepdriving etc?

The problem is that when I don't take the ambien, I can't sleep at all. I'm going to try to cut to half pills.

They do help me get to sleep...no doubt about that, and I haven't had any sleepwalking or anything like that. Just can't remember what I do between taking the pills and going to bed.

my buddy took ambian and went to bed. His roomate said he woke up to him talking to the cops in the living room and he was completely coherent and telling the cops about how the neighbors were too loud.

1)My buddy has no recolection of this.
2)There neighbors weren't even home.
