If how they did in the NFL is out than Dallas Clark, Bob Sanders, Keith Sims & Merton Hanks all take big hits... not just Warner.

QB: Warner, Wallace, Long, Rosenfels

I'm sure I'm forgetting some people. I just don't know enough about UNI to start anyone over anyone on this list. Warner would be the backup QB.

Listing Seneca Wallace at QB instead of Chuck Long is pretty ridiculous. Wallace threw more interceptions than TDs while at ISU (27 ints, 26 tds). Long had nearly 10,500 yards passing, 74 TDs, won Maxwell and O'Brien awards, runner up for the Heisman, first-team consensus All-American, and to this day has the best completion percentage of any college QB all time with more than 1,000 passing attempts.

Not even close.

Warners better.

I guess I thought this thread was based on what they did in college, may have misread. If that's the case, Warner hands-down. Still wouldn't list Wallace ahead of Long. Wallace had an ok college career and has done next to nothing in the NFL. Long did nothing in the NFL but is a college legend.

Dallas Clark was a consensus All-American and Mackey Award winner in 2002. I think he's fine.

Also, Bob Sanders was a two time Big 10 All American and was a 2nd team NCAA all-american his senior year. Not exactly a scrub college player.

I'm guessing these lists are unfair for the older generation of players.

god, I hate Iowa fans ... Sims and Hanks were good and recieved awards in college too - I'm just mentioning to the Long-lovers that removing how they did after college affects other players than Warner.

I agree. What about George Amundson? Wasn't he a first round draft pick? What about Dave Hoppman? He is way before my time, but I am curious.

It's just impossible to say how great a player was if you didn't see them play. The fact that Nile Kinnick made so few lists speaks volumes. I'd put him at CB rather than HB, but still, he needs to be on the team.

Here's my primary example:

Cal Jones: Outland trophy winner and 3 time 1st team AA

Since he played in the 50's nobody even knows who he is but he's probably the best lineman of the bunch.

I didn't say anything about anyone other than Clark. He was the best tight end in college football in 2002, I was just pointing out that ignoring his NFL career doesn't hurt him at all. I actually agree with you on the others though.

And I'm no ******* Hawk fan either. :realmad:

George might not make this the All-Star team in this thread, but yes, he was a first round draft pick. Great all-around athlete.

Hall of Famer Amundson leaves mark in two sports

George Amundson - South Dakota Sports Hall of Fame

And it looks like the Fanatics might have discussed this once before::smile:

Those of you omitting Chuck Long in favor of Seneca or Warner are either too young, or too filled with Hawk hate. If the measuring stick is accomplishments in the NFL Warner as a future Hall of Famer, gets the nod hands down.

Long is in the Hall of Fame - the College FB Hall of Fame. He was a 4 year starter, 3 time All-Big Ten Player, 2 time consensus All-American. Warner started 1 year at UNI. And as mentioned earlier Wallace, while an athletic freak, had decent but not spectacular stats, played on some of ISU's better teams, but were still only slightly above average - plus he had 1 All Time Highlight reel run.

To me QB is one of 2 non-debatable positions on this "team". The other is 1 RB slot.
