Is there a difference between the Pelican and Rick's Cafe? I haven't been to either.

This is Pelican bar: View attachment 20194

It is just a bar in the middle of a reef, that is inhabited by 10s of thousands of pelicans. About a mile out to sea. A guy named floyd built it and runs it, you basically sit there, play bones with floyd, drink and eat all day. One of the most unique places I have been in my life.

I am very in for this, we will be there for a week in November, I'd love some details.

My wife and I went to Sandals Negril for our honeymoon 17 years ago and it was great. We have also been to Moon Palace in Cancun - lousy beach but very nice place and they had free trips to Talum and Chezanitza (spelling??) to see the ruins. If you want beach Moon Palace is not your place.

My wife and I stayed at El Dorado Casitas Royale for our honeymoon. It is about halfway between Cancun and Playa Del Carmen. It is an AI with 7 restaurants. We had a great time. 7 restaurants and if you stay in the casitas, private pools for for the 20 units in your section. There are places with private balcony pools, but they are at a cost and farther away from the main area.

If any one goes to Tulum, make sure to build in enough time to go to the beach. It is beautiful (and top optional).

Just got back from Sandals Negril. It was great. Anyone we talked to that had been to other Jamaica resorts said Sandals Negril is the place to be.

bumping to say we had an absolutely fantastic time at Couples Negril and even sat down and chatted with a fellow Cyclone fan one day! His wife used to play volleyball for UNI (she kicked *** during sand volleyball) and he farms in the Fort Dodge area with his dad - if you're a member here, it was nice chatting with you and I hope the rest of your trip was great!

THREAD BUMP!

The next one of you who goes to Pelican better take some ISU stuff to leave behind. Saw 2 Hawk things, and some Mizzou stuff, but no ISU. Wish I would of known, I have a box full of game day towels in the basement.

We had a freaking blast at Swept Away. Been to a few places before, but Swept Away was BY FAR the best place.

Loved, loved, loved the Meridien on St-Martin. Very small island, you have your own beach w/ restaurants very close - only thing included is breakfast, but it's enough to keep you going ALL day. Even so, you can buy snacks and cheap foods in the nearby grocery and/or have a meal or two in French restaurants very close to the hotel. I really prefer the French side to the Dutch side, but I've heard others who love that side as well.

All Inclusives suck bro. Never again. Food is always out of a warmer and the drinks are watered down. Thats middle class game....

I've been to all inclusives with ok food, and some with really good food. In the end the price makes sense. I agree though that you shouldn't just sit at the resort all day, we definitely travel out and do local stuff as well.
