I like the shade of gold in the pants and jerseys. Its not bright yellow like we have used the past few years. I also like white mixed in with cardinal and gold

Not exactly sure.
Ok, I was confused. I was wondering what the heck UNI had to do with it. Figured out it’s another uniform thread.

To bad we were on trimesters then and had key players miss all of those 70s bowl games.

For some reason they called it the quarter system. Three quarters in the standard academic year. Then 2 summer quarter 'sessions'. First quarter was from just before Labor Day to Friday before Thanksgiving. Second quarter started Monday after Thanksgiving and included approx 2 week break for Xmas/NY Day and finished around the end of February where a week of "Spring Break" occurred. 3rd quarter was after that and ended around the end of May before Memorial Day.

At least that's how I remember it from the mid/late 70s.

It was called quarters because it was a quarter of the year. You needed to complete three quarters to get the equivalent credits for the year as those on semesters got for 2 semesters. In trimester system, it was a full semester credit. In reality, the same amount of material was covered at ISU in a quarter as was covered in ic in a semester. Think econ 101. Same book, same material, less credit.
Of course now, they are back on virtually the same schedule calling it semesters. They don't seem to have Friday or Saturday classes anymore either. Assume it's so faculty gets longer weekend.

So, an Athlete couldn't participate in a Bowl Game because his 1Q grades didn't meet standards - is that why they missed bowl games?

I was in the unenviable position of first two years quarters, second two years semesters.

We had the same freshman calculus book as TOE. Home over Thanksgiving, a friend who went there asked for help with calculus. Became obvious we covered more in first quarter than TOE was covering in first semester.

The weird thing to me was it was called quarters but you normally only attend 3 quarters to make a full school/academic year. Yes, calendar wise it was a quarter, but it always seemed odd that it only took 3 quarters to make a full school year.

I was at that game. Couple of buddies went down to the game. Then on to Florida...brings back some great memories. That I can't go into here. I will tell you the game was exciting. George Admundson was QB. We lost going for 2 at the end. 32 to 31. Majors left to become Pitt's coach after that game.
