Another Cubs pipedream like winning the World Series and Clones taking the Big 12 Championship.

I have no doubt that Scott Boras may have dreamed this up. It may be the only way for him to get the $30 Million/year contract (if part was deferred to a stake in the team).

You'd have to have the right owner to make a deal like that and I don't see MLB approving that type of owner. And I don't think that MLB would approve this type of deal anyway regardless of who owns the Cubs...

The Cubs would have one of the most memorable infields in the history of baseball if this were to happen:

1B: Derrek Lee
2B: Ryan Theriot
3B: Aramis Ramirez
SS: A-ROD

Memorable for what? Having one hall of famer?

It can't happen, Bud Selig said so himself. The league will never allow a deal to go through that would give the player any ownership of the team either now or in the future.

As much as I would like for the Cubs to get him, it doesn't appear that it will be happening.

Omg, I would love this if it happens. this could make the cubs have one of the best lineups in the history of baseball. and how can u say only one hall of famer when aramis and the-riot are young and still have alot of baseball in them.

I love optimism. Obviously the infield would be better than the current Yankee infield.

I for one would prefer that they cubbies do not 'waste' 30/mil a year on Arod.

Now, i say waste. Only because I can think of multiple other players that i would rather have for 30 mil rather than just getting one man. I understand and agree that arod is putting up crazy good numbers, and as downhome as he seems, I still think he's going to come with that 'holyer than thou' superstar attitude. I'd take Theriot, Lee, and A-ram over a rod anyday...

Well, barring a devastating injury he will opt out this year given the money he'd leave on the table after the monster season he's had so far. If that's the case, then why not go to the Cubs? He reportedly already has a good relationship with Sweet Lou and, more importantly, the idiots at the Tribune co. won't be calling the shots for payroll anymore. The Cubs have the money (I believe they set an all time attendance record this year), more than enough to afford A-Rod, keep the talent they choose to, AND add to the pitching staff.

I hate your guts Tribune Co.

The contract is against league rules. It would never be allowed. So keep dreaming....

Also, 30 million for 1 player or spend 30 million on 3 different big name players?? Seems easy enough to figure out.

All Scott Boras is doing (A-Rods agent) is creating some noise and a starting price for the Yankees. Any team dumb enough to bite should be ashamed.
