Of course you were shocked, because you're just like the guy who wrote the e-mail: You're not invested in the program in any way, but you think your opinion should matter.

I'm sure you'd love to roast Jamie over this e-mail, but I guess I'll have to wait until 4PM for your [over]reaction. Shouting and nervous laughter... Probably going to be a 1700 day.
WHAT!! Do you mean that SPORTSTALKMATT is someone who talks on the radio? I never listen to the radio and if I did, certainly not to someone talking about sports!!! :biglaugh:

If this is a true story...do your homework. Go and get more emails (they are state property) see if its true that JP has received 100-1 positive to negative. Follow up and find Matt Rainey, see what his background is.

I have a feeling instead you're going to strike while the iron is hot and spin this whole AD JP wont do a interview with me so lets drag him through the mud.
Good suggestion, but too much work for a guy who spouts off his mouth for a living!:biglaugh:

The opposite for me. I never listen to these radio/tv idiots who have probably never played any sport and this only validates that decision.
Dang, I tried to rep you but it says I've given out too much rep today and I have to wait for 24 hours. Anyway, good post! Telling it like it is!

Just for the record - I'm a sports talk show host. Not a journalist for Iowa State. I do write stories on my website but I don't wear a "journalist" hat in Des Moines.

You might say I have responsibility but I didn't put this up...I simply put this up here. I trust Jon and Steve that they have reason to believe this email to be real and fact checked - they are not idiots. Jon even has explained what happened in this thread.

You're right. Sports talk show hosts aren't journalists. And Charles Barkley wasn't a role model...

I actually take offense to this email. My dad was disabled and was never able to attend games or "spend" money on tickets. But he was one to watch every football and basketball game, to SUPPORT CTN and the FSN for showing the games. Just because you dont attend the games does not mean you dont support the team. He doesnt think there are ISU fans outside of the state? IMO Pollard is a pile of crap if he really said this and I will be sending him an email letting him know my feelings on him saying something like this cause I do spend a lot of money on ISU athletics and this email about makes me puke.

I guess you haven't read the dozens of posts in this thread that have established that the e-mail was a fake already...

You do realize that it was a response to a single "fan" who did nothing in his initial email but rip the team, staff and program - and PROMISED to no longer fund the program?

"I see no improvement and until I do I will not be putting any of my money into your program"

This guy threatened to deny something he doesn't provide in the first place. JP called him on it.

It's not a blanket statement of lack of support across the fan base and those who don't donate.

Have you seen the number of pages in this thread? There's a 99% chance he read the first page and then skipped to the end.

Until JP comes out and says the email was a fake and did not come from him, it's fair to assume it's legit. Since it's now posted on the website of Central Iowa's biggest station for sports talk radio, I think he needs to at least put out a statement saying it was a fake. If he doesn't, again, it's fair to assume it's real.

His signature logo was on the email. Also, the OP said in a note to Deace that his dad buys the tickets, and he gets them through his dad. I know some die hard Clone fans that do something similar, because someone else can score better tickets than they can.
Then his Dad's name would come up when looking through the ISU donor/purchaser database.

Exactly, but its not like he has ever gotten anything right in the past, probably was him. I could see an email like this coming from him, he is putting his job on the line for keeping McDermott.

If you honestly could see an e-mail like this coming from JP then you've obviously never received one from him... :nah:

You can STILL support the team without buying a ticket. Did you know tv shows and sports are based on VIEWERS. Just cause he didnt buy anything from the ticket office does not mean he does not watch the games or buy ISU clothing, which would also support the program.

Quick internet and Facebook search:

Matt Rainey, Dowling Catholic Class of '08, Marquette '12
and he's 5'10" and fat. If he's such a big ISU fan, what's he doing going to Marquette? Maybe he wants to be a priest or something.:jimlad:

I didn't say it wasn't. But there's no reason for you to carry this over to your own situation.

You saying that this guy was threatening to stop watching TV? That was what he was trying to convey in that email.

Nice try.
