How can you not like Jamie. Does anyone know which poster that is that he was referring to from 2005. Just trying to get the full picture

Great interview!

Most interesting thing to me was Jamie's comparison of Dan Beebe to Greg McDermott as the "wrong leader at the wrong time."

That billboard was up on I-380 southbound on the edge of Cedar Rapids heading toward Iowa City. The Hawkeye football team would stay at a hotel in Cedar Rapids the night before home games and would drive past the billboard.

Chris, I love the questions you asked - very insightful and not just the standard questions. Keep up the good work.

Love this quote from JP

Think about it. That is half of everything that we have done. Everything that we have done going back to the Hilton scoreboard, the concourse, every project that we have done, which is 100 and some million dollars. That project is half of all of that stuff combined. That puts it in perspective as to how big that is. Truth be told, that one doesn’t have a direct impact on how well the football team plays. If you were to ask Paul, that’s why we did the football building. The football building could have been the endzone but that was more valuable. That (the football facility) in the long run will help us do that (bowl in the endzone). That (the endzone) probably wouldn’t have helped us do the football building.

I think it really puts into perspective how well JP is planning for future success, not just in football, but across the board for our athletic programs. Once we can be performing at a high level across the board, then all the fluffy feel good stuff can start being built (here's looking at you SEZ).

Also think it should be a top priority with some of the new TV $ to make sure JP is properly rewarded to stay at ISU and keep him from going elsewhere. If he is like CPR and wants the $ better spent elsewhere than on him, that's fine but make sure to at least offer to pay the man to keep him here longer.

nice work CW getting a couple wrestling questions in there. It is very reassuring to hear JP say that even if the Olympics drop wrestling, he will still support Cyclone Wrestling.

Edit: CW I posted the link to your interview over in the Wrestling forum in a new thread so all the wrestling guys will see it.

The only thing I didn't like was him saying they wouldn't pay the current coaches top of the line Big XII money. I can understand it but it's still frustrating. If they lose CPR or Fred to another school because of money, it will be very hard to take.

Love this bit on the south endzone

The people who think we need the south endzone to be a legitimate program are idiots. I used to think it was important, but its become pretty clear it doesn't mean a hell of a lot.

I'd really like to see it, but I understand why it hasn't been done yet. I think it would be great for ISU Football, but other things - including the new building - are more important.
