Even if a timeout wasn't called, take advantage of the decision not to call timeout- that is, have your veterans take advantage of the fact that Baylor didn't have a great chance to get into optimal defensive position.

We didn't.

Well Cyclone 1985, I suspect that we will "learn" when 1) you become head coach and apply your brilliance against the likes of Shaka Smart or Bill Self, or 2) you enroll in community college, get your grades up so you are academically eligible and you take over the PG position. But I'm not holding my breath.....:SLEEP:In order to show how much better, more skilled and smarter you are than Monte, you will have to average more than 15 points, shoot over 51%, have an assist:turnover ratio of 5.0 and get 2 steals or better. You up for that? Talk's cheap, ain't it.

Ask yourself this:
Should you take a high percentage shot at the end of regulation?
If you said yes, then ask yourself:
Is my 3 pt % my high percentage shot? (disregard the fact that it was contested)
If you said no, ask yourself:
What is my high % shot?

You have 9 seconds to answer.

We need better coaching. We have the most talented starting 5 in college basketball.

Uh... We DO NOT have the best starting 5. Some versatile and very good players, yes, but we're having to guard 6'9" guys with a 6'4" Burton. Pretty tough to do. Other teams have good, multiple inside players , just not one as versatile and efficient as Niang. We have to score so much(which we often do) to even be 'in' games due to our struggles with defense & rebounding especially. Other than McKay, I think Prohm is getting about as much squeezed out of this team as he can.

Burn!

What is a higher percentage shot for Monte, contested 3 or a 2? Right, a 2. By driving to the lane (which is Monte's game) you put pressure on the D and the refs -- you have a better chance at a lay-up, better chance at a floater, better chance that someone comes to help and you can dump off for an easier shot, better chance at getting a foul and a better chance at a soft rebound and tip-in.

So by shooting a 3 the only way you win, is making a difficult shot. By penetrating, there are 4, 5, 6 easier ways to get points -- all of them better than a contested 3.

If we could just do whatever we wanted all of the time we'd win every game 200-0. It's always amazing to me that people fully expect us to do everything right, win every game. It's pompous and as I've said before ISU b-ball fan is becoming Iowa football fan after losses and it's sad to see. There's an entire team of guys trying their hardest to stop us and beat us, can't we just lose a good basketball game to a good team that is a bad match up for us and not have a crisis?

For this team, eight losses is just too many losses. We are almost done with the season and we still have not figured out how to play our best ball for a game. We had three major runs against us last night. Being sixth in conference, we probably have to beat OU in first game of the tourney.

I don't have a problem with Monte taking a game winning 3 when required. In conference games, he is shooting 3s at 47.6%. That's second best in the conference. That's better than Buddy Hield.

Problem is, the 3 wasn't required.

Baylor got back on defense and had their bigs in the lane. A timeout could have been called. It that also allows them more of a chance to prepare. It was Burtons play before that that really messed things up. Although he did have a huge block after that. But there is no excuse for Burton to try to go one on one after he just got stuffed my Motley. Should have passed it.

Also Baylor did a great job keeping the ball from Niang at the end of the game they were denying him the ball and were shading a second guy to him.

Also, don't forget about the brain fart of a possession by Burton. He redeemed himself with that block/goaltend.

Don't know if Georges will be the go to guy with the game on the line as CSP has said more than once that he wants the point guard 'to make a play'. Monte obviously thinks that this means he takes the shot.

I feel as if Monte thinks he can recreate the game winner from Texas last year. Although awesome at the time, the fade away jumper he made with a hand in his face is a really tough, low percentage shot. He's like 0-3 this year on potential game winners, all contested jump shots...it ain't working! Either attack the basket or give it to Georges and let him make a play!

Well the last time we had this situation the play was designed for Georges and it didn't open up enough. Stuff happens.

Not true, see Iowa and Oklahoma (at home).
