Amazing that we have the second highest enrollment in the conference. More students = more alumni = more fans = more ticket sales/merchandise/donations = more $$$$ = a better chance of keeping our athletic department relevant for the long haul.

Obviously this is good for the academic side too, but athletics are going to benefit greatly from this down the road.

Except most of the increase (undergrads) has come in the past 10 years...21,004 in Fall 2007, up to 30,671 this year. It takes a good 10-20 years for the graduates to start making enough money to up their donations...I would expect our donation numbers to really start taking off as the increased grads start donating more. It's a great problem to have...but there are growing pains (infrastructure, professors, etc.).

I was attending ISU at the end of it's growth spurt in the 1960's. Enrollment doubled from 10K to 20K in less than ten years. Didn't know it at the time but that was why there were so many new dorms and class bldgs popping up plus all of the plans for Hilton and a new football stadium. Before I attended in '69 I hadn't known much about ISU at all (was living in the dark country of NE Iowa).

Missouri went the opposite direction from >35,000 to around 25,000.
