Steeler fan here...this is the best option out there right now. I hate that guy...but what else could the Steelers do? I was never fond of Roethlisberger off the field either (to paraphrase Bull Durham...million dollar arm, ten cent brain)! Like Seinfeld jokes about...we cheer for the jerseys...and given the limited realistic options out there...the Steelers had to bring Aaron on board.

Will be interesting to see how Rodgers handles it when DK and Pickens throw a hissy fit about not getting the ball because we know that will happen.

That said if they all can keep their egos in check they could have a pretty good season together.

Am I stupid or totally misunderstanding this? How would giving 5 more yards for a touchback increase return rates?

The average return made it to the 29 (28.8 to be exact). By adding 6 yards to the touchback you are basically just giving the opposing team a free 5 yards if you kick it into the end zone. I personally think they should move a touchback on a kickoff to the 40. That would really change it up.

Wouldn't the receiving team just take a touchback or fair catch it Everytime?

You can’t in the NFL. If it falls in the landing zone you have to return it. If it rolls into the end zone after landing in the landing zone, it’s live but can be downed in the end zone and have touchback at the 20.
