On Torvik, even without adding a guard transfer which I am sure they will, Houston is the clear #1 right now.

No way I would put Purdue at 2 without Edey. That is a failure to acknowledge what an absolute force of nature Edey was for Purdue.

If I had a top ten right now in no particular order I would have
Duke
ISU
Baylor
Houston
Kansas
Gonzaga
Alabama
Arizona
Florida
UNC
I haven't dug into who's not retuning for teams very much so this is just a conversational question. Why did you pick Florida over someone like Tennessee or Auburn? I know Knecht stirred the drink for Tennessee, but I thought they were returning most everyone else.

"Tennessee hoses me every time in my pool" is a perfectly acceptable answer, BTW

Milwaukee, Indianapolis, and San Antonio. Nice. Making plans now.
we will have to probably have to play a Big 10 team in Milwaukee or Indianapolis and it will be a road game. Book it. Just kidding, but it wouldn't surprise me as we have had to go down that road several times in the tournament.

13th seems pretty low.

If you just look at last year's metrics, who returns, who leaves, who is added...yeah we're probably taking a hit by not having a blue blood brand.

I'm guessing our top four players are probably better than any program's returning top four players, of course some teams really load up with new players so impossible to compare that.

our top players play hard ,play as a team and match up against most teams, but we do not have the high end talent as some of these teams. For example we do not have a Cooper Flagg. Those type of teams are always going to get the pass or benefit of the doubt when picking final 4s.

I think Milan has some unrealized high ceiling at either NCAA/NBA level. For college game I think Tamin has a pretty high ceiling too if healthy.

Agree with what you're saying and I wouldn't pick ISU for Final Four if i were a national writer, but think it can be more about name/stars/brands than actually looking at the players. Sometimes those prospects instantly dominate (Carmelo) but a lot of times they're moving to the NBA before they can really put a stamp on college bball.

Thought experiment in a more extreme way. What's a safer bet for overall win production in one college season? Cooper Flagg this year or Jamal Shead heading into last season. Shead is the sure thing pretty easily if you had to put money down.

Top 10 team is a dark horse? Ridiculous.
Top-10-team-that-hasn't-been-to-the-Elite-Eight-since-2000-and-the-Final-Four-since-1944-when-the-NIT-was-more-prestigious-and-the-NCAA-tournament-was-only-8-teams-though-they-did-beat-coach-Phog-Allen-twice-in-the-regular-season.
Dark horse may be a stretch, but probably not ridiculous.
