I think Bob will still fund Iowa better than basically any other wrestling program (outside of maybe Richison and Oklahoma State). What I will be curious about is if Iowa struggles again next year at NCAAs (places 4th or worse), do the Brands seats get hot and Bob starts getting frustrated with his ROI and starts to withhold money until a change is made. I know Bob and the Brands are tight, so I doubt it, but that is one scenario I could see playing out where Iowa starts to lose some funding for wrestling.
There’s no way their seats are hot even if they do place 4th or outside. They have basset coming in, I assume miller will be there too, ludington, now they have mocco and I bet little bro follows suit. They are pulling in some serious star power. To me basset was a program hire, once you get him others will follow.

Yesterday was the 2nd hearing on House vs NCAA where the judge asked for changes to certain issues be presented ; one being roster limit changes. They came back with no changes to roster limits stating that the moves had already started to reduce rosters and grandfathering athletes in and phasing the limits in would do as much harm as good. Looks like the roster limit will be in effect in July.

Valid point, but they really need to challenge for a title with the 2026 recruiting class. I don't see those donors and fans settling for anything less than 2nd, and I think there is a good chance Oklahoma State will surpass them with DT and the money backing that program

Yeah and I don’t see that happening I guess. PSU is obviously gonna be tough but like you said OSU is closing the gap, and quickly with Iowa and PSU for that matter.

I wonder how long the new AD gives brands before she wants to move on. That 2026,2027,2028 team should win them at least 1 title. Maybe if that doesn’t happen they move on?

To be fair I think the poster was referring to Iowa’s NIL for wrestling losing their charitable status this summer like all NIL accounts. ISU Cardinal & Gold is already non-charitable identity. Thus, after this summer it will put these other NILs on the same level as ISU. Bob may not be as generous with no tax breaks.

First, that is a no. And if it were true, it would be an even worse point than I originally thought.

They are also tight with other big donors. A lot of fans are ready to move on, but they aren’t really going anywhere.
