One of the key parts of the last play was the left fielder deciding to take the play off. Coaches from T-ball on up preach backing plays up and that everybody has a job to do. The guy in left must have been thinking about getting his juice box and fruit gummy snack for an after-game treat.

How far back do you have to go to find a better Twins trade? This kid is going to be a stud.
Pierzynski to the Giants for Joe Nathan, Francisco Liriano and Boof Bonser.
11 year old me was still super mad. Was definitely my favorite player as a kid, felt betrayed.
Boof. Lol could do some damage in a twins trivia game with that one.
That trade really worked out. A.j. became expendable when Mauer was ready take over For 20 years straight the Twins had the best catchers in the A.L. And Nathan and Liriano were stud arms. The interesting thing was AJ only lasted a year with the Giants. Heard they had issues with him.

AJ was actually a popular guy in the Twins clubhouse. After he was traded, Hrbek and a couple others set him up with a classic practical joke. Mauer had just started marketing a hitting aid called the Mauer Quick Swing. It was an angled plastic tube attached to a tripod. Drop the ball in and swing away when it dropped out of the tube. His ex-teammates bought one and had it shipped to AJ in the Giants clubhouse with a note that he could probably use it.
Twins on fire. Looks like Kepler, Larnach, and Correa are finally joining the party. Now if Sano can just get going.
