I mean, everyone knows they are fake. But no one dares say anything because at some point you may penalize someone for an actual injury, that just appeared fake. No one wants to address it because of the player safety aspect.

I think it was last week someone faked one and then his teammate pretended to do CPR on him, everyone knows its a joke, but wont touch it.

Simple rule change. You get injured, you’re out for the remainder of the possesion. One play is not enough. No reason for penalizing a team. Just make sure that player cannot come back in the next play. Even for cramps, how often have we seen a guy go down 4-5 times a game? Let that guy sit and get fluids before coming back.

Wanted this rule for a long time, more so in soccer where it's a bigger problem. If you're so hurt that you require medical attention to make it off the field than it's reasonable to make them sit out for an extended amount of time.

I’d push back pretty strongly on this however I agree this is a problem. The issue with your solution is the mindset of football players. They are going to want to stay on the field now knowing they are out for a possession which could take a minor injury and make it major or a major injury and make it catastrophic.

Especially because in your solution refs most likely wouldn’t be allowed to call TO for an injured player due to the swing nature of a decision like that.
