Thankfully the 2 from Michigan are legit hammers. Will be interesting to see if they change recruiting strategies next year(now). Brutally honest, look at our home schedule this year & ask yourself if you were a top level kid would you want that to be yours?

So disappointing. The class started so strong with the MI kids. These coaches can coach ‘em up. I like what I see on the mat but we’ve got to put together a full class of hammers. Especially when we have some money to spend.

We’re going to have some big holes in the lineup again next year.

Did somebody say Suriano is committing tomorrow? Is that true?

where are the big holes going to be? I like Cam or Paniro at 149 to replace Ian/Degen. There’s a chance Marcus is back at 184. Other than that, going to be essentially the same roster as this year

I think Carr goes 165 & younger Kraisser will be 157. Schon & Greenlee come off grayshirt at 285

Pat Mineo posted on his twitter and facebook that Suriano decision is tomorrow but that is not coming from anywhere else that I can see.
Penn State message boards seem to think the door may have opened back up for him there. Not holding my breath.

I retract the term “hole”. That’s a bit harsh. When I’m looking at our lineup I’m looking for guys that are true candidates to reach the podium. I’ve stated this earlier but ISU can’t define itself with NQs. We should not be considered a developmental program. Not this far into KDs tenure.

133, 165, 174, 184, HWT

If Coleman comes back that would help. But we are going to need to see massive growth at 125, 141, 174 (or whatever weight Broderson settles in at.. I think he has potential).

Again, I like our fight. We just need to set our bar higher if we’re going to move back into the national conversation. It all starts with recruiting and we‘ve had too many misses.

Outside of Cael, Ohio State and the Hawkeyes, it’s taken every program a long time to build up to the point where it looks easy to recruit. VT, Cornell, Missouri, Michigan, NC State. It takes a long time and proven consistency to get to that point of being able to sell kids. I think Dresser is getting there with some of the big recruits lately and if Cyclones can get into the top 10 and then top 6, it will get easier. Recruiting can’t be an easy game right now. Lots of good programs out there with something great to offer. Build a winning program with consistency and they will get the guys they need.

Please tell me all the misses in the class? Not the misses of all the message board experts, but who the coaches missed on that they really wanted.

I'll start the list with Riggins, and ?????????????????????????????????????. That's the list.

To further prove my point, read the article on Flo. To say we are just swinging and missing is ignorance. Every coach is out there putting in the work to recruit and sell.

The other schools in his final five were Cornell, Iowa State, Lehigh, and Standford, and he considered each seriously, even visiting Stanford after he initially told Coach Koll he'd made his final decision over a week ago.

After telling Coach Koll that Stanford was out, Ysaguirre says Koll showed up at his house and asked him to take two or three extra days before making his final decision. Ysaguirre agreed, and in those few days, he found out that he'd been accepted to Stanford, a school with a 4% acceptance rate, and took a campus visit. Despite that whirlwind experience with Stanford and positive interactions with coaches from all five programs, ASU was the right fit for 6th ranked 132-pounder in the country.

Seriously? That’s the only other wrestler we wanted to add to the class? Huh? I would have thought they would have added some top notch wrestlers like other programs. Good to know.

I don’t know for sure but I’m guessing Swiderski and Redding being senior to him and each likely here for a number of years may have had something to do with his decision.

I think the point is the top programs have log jams at all the weights and kids continue to come in. We would love to get to that point. That competition brings out the best in all the wrestlers, and not every HS hammer comes close to the podium. Look at one of our former recruits Jake Allar, or Destin McCauley. Woof. Recently Aden Reeves, who we were all excited to land, just exited stage left.

"The top programs" is a key. Iowa State currently is not in that category. Building up to that position takes a long period of time. Even look at programs like PSU & Iowa: when you take out starters at certain spots, they don't have a back-up that would be competitive on a national level. There may be certain weights where guys are moving out, but even the best of the best aren't getting that same depth with the way in which talent is spreading out. I think its getting harder and harder to get kids in to possibly sit for half their career than it used to be,
