I bought GE today at $13 and plan to sell at $14 and then do it all over again.
I'm mostly a long-term buy & hold guy, but I'm selling out my entire position in GE - harvesting losses for tax time. May get back in as recent data show a floor of support near this range.

I really need to harvest some profit from AMZN and take shares off the table - one of my largest long-term gainers.

I’ve got a good portion of my eggs in the AMD basket. I’m young so I can gamble a bit. My avg buy price for AMD is 11.12. Wish i had found it sooner! My supervisor is a techie and has been raving about AMD for some time now.

I've been there before. This is not likely to last with AMD. I owned the stock the last time they had an advantage over Intel when the Athlon came out. However, it is very unlikely to last. Look at the long term-history and they've had two spikes to the $30 range and go right back down.

Yeah I'm aware of the history. Thing is, AMD's threadripper processor is better than anything Intel has in production right now. AMD is gaining huge chunks of market share right now. Could be a different AMD than we have seen in the past. Their new CEO, Lisa Su, has done great things in her short time in her role

Intel has also been weakened by missing all of the phone processor market, but still its really hard to compete with the Top Dog. Then AMD lost a lot of potential for tthe Bitcoin market to Nvidia. I'm just not sold yet but haven't paid as close attention to the market lately.

I just feel like AMD will always have the disadvantage of not being Intel, no matter what Intel does. It will take quite a long time and quite a lot of bumbling by Intel to change the perception of who the market leader is even if AMD does become the market leader. Bum bum bum bum.

I agree 100%. Still, AMD is grossly under valued, imo.

I might go back to school just so I can attend a class that does a case study on MoviePass (HMNY). Some lawyers are going to get rich on that class action lawsuit.

Where'd all the TSLA shorts run off and hide to? Paging Argent...

This is a fun little stock to put some gambling money on with all the speculative volatility around it. Think trading mentality rather than investing with this one.

My two favorites right now are:
TRXC - Robotics for surgery.
HEAR - gaming headset manufacturer with the fortnite craze.

Both are expected to have exceeded expectations for ER in early August.

Up 24% on TRXC (Was $4.79 when I posted update on 7/17)
Up 34% on HEAR (Was $25.39 when I posted update on 7/17)

Another one I wanted to get into this morning was SONOs (SONO Ticker) but had my funds tied up in TRXC, HEAR, and FNKO awaiting ERs early next week. Sonos was up 33% on its IPO.

If I knew how to 'short' stocks, holy crap! It's been 50% down every day since they did R/S with no end in sight.

Not surprising, slightly better results but mostly just more Hopium from Elon. This spike will be faded just like the last one. Pretty easy to manipulate a stock like this with high short interest and a big insider position. Still a short candidate especially if it can't get above the last peak at ~$370. In fact after looking at the charts I am tempted to place a small order with a mental stop above that first peak around $380. Lower highs and declining momentum in the RSI.

Thinking of selling my shares of GE and buying DBD on a feeling.

Anyone have a recomendation on any of the open Vanguard funds? Looking to dump 10 to 20 into one of their funds for longterm investment.

I bought way back when and actually held it. It tanked so much it was laughably bad and I didn’t see the point in selling. It finally broke even like 15 years later. I leave it in the portfolio as a reminder how not everything can be rosey.

VYM if you ever consider protecting what you have already made. My big gains go there for safe keeping. But I am getting older. There is no magic age to any investment style, do what feels comfortable to you.

Right, but what happens to your short (likely made with a margin loan) if the company does go private and there is no open market remaining for your position??

Regarding TSLA, Elon is crazy but he isn't stupid. I think he knows he has to put up or face some serious consequences related to his tweets yesterday. It will be interesting to watch what happens in the coming days/weeks.

Tesla still hasn't said where it's getting the more than $71 billion it would cost to take the company private. Wall Street bankers also don't know, suggesting Musk has secured financing elsewhere. But that seems implausible given the size of the deal, which would require multiple banks, and cult-like interest in Tesla, dealmakers and analysts say.

I can't imagine there are enough suckers out there to fund taking Tesla private.
