Sure Elon prob opened Tesla up to some lawsuits if there is no funding.
Right, but what happens to your short (likely made with a margin loan) if the company does go private and there is no open market remaining for your position??

If they do get bought out I imagine they make people cover at the buyout price or $420 per Elon and his tweets. That is more of a complex question to ask the brokers however. I can't imagine they would allow a short against a private company.

Tesla still hasn't said where it's getting the more than $71 billion it would cost to take the company private. Wall Street bankers also don't know, suggesting Musk has secured financing elsewhere. But that seems implausible given the size of the deal, which would require multiple banks, and cult-like interest in Tesla, dealmakers and analysts say.

I can't imagine there are enough suckers out there to fund taking Tesla private.

I can't either and I imagine this is just Elon stroking his pride and perhaps opening Tesla up to some big lawsuits from the shorts. However, this is the land for professionals and not small fish.

This is the video that Musk tweeted. This Hitler video just works for everything but I thought it was still pretty well done.

One 90+% gainer is a pretty good start. Also noticed that 3D systems (DDD) was up 4.39 or 32% today. Think I had mentioned that one last year with pretty bad timing.

I am part of 3d systems class action lawsuit from a few years ago. I am hoping for a nice little check in the mail.

I don't know, I never join those things as only the big fish and lawyers get paid. I don't like suing companies just because the stock went down.

And it's gone. Well those gains didn't last long...

Bloomberg reports that the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission is intensifying its scrutiny of Tesla's public statements in the wake of Elon Musk's tweet Tuesday about taking the electric-car company private. "funding secured."

Additionally, SEC enforcement attorneys in the San Francisco office were already gathering general information

If Tesla ever get's back to $250 I'll buy, but not holding my breath.

One of my co-workes just got one and they're pretty awesome.

IMO. the only reason Tesla is still in business is because these other manufacturers have been so late to the game. If 3 or 4 of them would have gotten real serious about it a few years ago, Tesla wouldn't exist. The pricing isn't good, their designs are nothing special, their fit/finish have been questionable, their interiors are below average for the price, etc. What they are going on right now is the insane speed you can get out of these electric cars, some of the tech, and their limited availability.

They better make hay now because I just saw a picture of the 2020 Porsche and damn.

Oh, Arrrrrgeeeeennnntttt ... where are you???

Can I sell you my TSLA shares now?

I hope you did get the TSLA shares sold, I know I didn't buy them but maybe a short seller would buy them with the squeeze. Down 30 points (9%) today to $305. That didn't last long. Nice job Elon.

Oh man, he really is falling apart. Kinda feel sorry for him but he's had plenty of fun that the rest of us didn't enjoy and he did it mostly at taxpayer expense.

He might not have been stoned then, but he appears to be in a similar state much of the other time: Musk detailed his frequent use of the sleep-aid Ambien - a drug he’s discussed using before, and whose well-known side effects include sleepwalking. “It is often a choice of no sleep or Ambien,” he told the newspaper. Rather than put him to sleep, the drug has sometimes led Musk to spend his nights on Twitter, worrying some board members, the NYT said.

I'm very over-exposed in Apple but it has worked out well. I keep an eagle eye on it because if something bad happens I would be screwed. I've got stop losses in place that I get to keep raising so I'm actually pretty safe. I'm a holder now. I used to trade it but I'm not good at it. I just buy dips and never sell.

Apple is very long term. Have had it for over 10 years. There is a reason Buffet keeps buying it. It’s a highly successful company with loads of cash and diversity of product.

Congrats to you. However, I'm not sure it is remotely possible that the next 10 are similar to the last 10. Wish I had owned some from long ago. I actually helped a guy in college get started investing and he bought apple as his first buy. Man I hope he held for all these years because that would be worth a mighty dollar now. Edit: I went back and looked and at that time he would have been buying at ~$1 per share split adjusted. Niice.
